ROBERT B. BAUMGARTNER, ESQ.

Hale Ball Carlson Baumgartner Murphy, PLC 10511 Judicial Drive Fairfax, VA 22030 Tel: (703) 218-8322 Email: [email protected] www.haleball.com

Robert Baumgartner is an AV rated senior partner in the Fairfax, Virginia firm of Hale Ball Carlson Baumgartner Murphy, PLC. His practice has focused on representing small and medium size businesses for over 30 years. He has formed hundreds, if not thousands, of new businesses. He has watched mom and pop businesses achieve family goals, and has seen small businesses with big dreams implement legal and business solutions to become major players in their industries. He has also had to address succession issues with many businesses, including voluntary succession planning, and involuntary sale and dissolution of business when succession planning had been deferred to a later date. He cites positive client interaction with business owners who are trying to achieve their goals as a strong motivator in his decision to focus his practice on business and commercial law. He regularly works with optimistic, upbeat, and aggressive entrepreneurs and business owners to create short and long-term business strategies and legal needs. He has the experience to provide the practical legal solutions to complicated business situations. Time and again he has found that the pure legal analysis and legal courses of action may not be the best solution for businesses and business owners. Rather, seeking win-win solutions, which involve a balancing of the legal positions against the monetary and non-monetary costs leads to alternative, non-litigation solutions. Business owners usually want cost effective solutions, not legal positions that lead to polarization and the loss of business deals and transactions. A transaction should never fall through because of attorneys advocating positions that create adversity. Rather, a lawyer should always seek solutions that will allow transactions to be consummated and problems to be resolved. When dealing with employees and employment situations, he has found that employers want solutions that will minimize or remove the threat of litigation. With the cost of defending major employment suits averaging over $125,000, most business have to find solutions to employment problems that protect the business interests while bringing closure to the problems. Admitted to the Virginia bar in 1978 and to the District of Columbia bar in 1994, Mr. Baumgartner brings considerable experience to the practice of business and commercial law in Northern Virginia.

A native of the Virginia peninsula, Veronica Elizabeth Williams began her professional career in the United States Army where she served for five (5) years as a personnel officer. Her experiences included overseas duty and successful completion of the United States Army Parachutist Course (Airborne School).

Upon completing her tour of military service, she entered law school at the College of William & Mary and graduated in 1993.

Veronica limits her legal practice to Estate Planning, the Settlement of Estates, and Advocacy for the Elderly and Infirm, with a special passion for that part of Elder Law that deals with assisting caregivers to be more effective advocates for the loved ones they care for and serve.

Veronica served as her mother’s caregiver off and on for 21 years. Her mother was diagnosed with a long-term chronic illness and she knows how difficult it can be to care for a loved one with health challenges, and to balance that care with competing demands. Over the years, she has shopped for home health care providers, plowed through medical paperwork, puzzled over health care coverage, and experienced first-hand the frustrations of our fragmented health care system. She is passionate about understanding life care planning and estate planning from the perspectives of the client and the caregiver.

Her representation, therefore, is exclusive to clients who seek the following types of legal services:

. Elder Advocacy . Powers of Attorney . Wills, Trusts & Estates . Asset Protection Planning . Guardianship Proceedings . Advocacy in Hospital Settings1 . Long Term Care Coordination (Including Crisis Medicaid Cases)

1 Challenging inappropriate hospital sponsored guardianship petitions & Notices of involuntary discharge . End-of-Life Counseling / Advocacy

In 2014, she was appointed by the Governor of Virginia to serve four year terms as a board member on both the Commonwealth Council on Aging, and the Virginia Public Guardianship and Conservatorship Board. She also serves a board member for the Virginia Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. She is a frequent teacher and speaker on the topics of Elder Law & Estate Planning, and her professional perspectives have been published in the Newspaper and the Virginia Lawyers Weekly.
