After sorting out the equipment and making sure everyone is comfortable, the guide will explain safety procedures and then we will get out on the water. This is usually in the sheltered bay directly outside the inn and provides an enticing first taste of sea kayaking in Scotland.

Day 2 | Sea Kayaking in the Sound of Arisaig

After going over the basic strokes learned on the previous afternoon, our guide will lead a sea kayaking journey in the Sound of Arisaig. This beautiful stretch of water offers excellent sea kayaking in fairly sheltered waters. It is also an excellent place for seeing marine wildlife such as otters or even dolphins. There will be plenty of breaks during the day to ensure that no-one gets too tired, and we will return to the inn late afternoon. (B, L) Day 3 | Sea Kayaking in the Sound of Arisaig

We will enjoy another sea kayak journey in the Sound of Arisaig, working on our skills and exploring a new part of the coastline. There are lots of sea-lochs to explore and we might venture south to Loch and paddle there, finishing at the impressive ruin of , an amazing place to visit. (B, L)

Day 4 | More Sea Kayaking!

On our final day of sea kayaking, we will enjoy another journey exploring the Sound of Arisaig by sea kayak, perhaps visiting one of the islands that lie just off the coast in front of the inn. We’ll finish sea kayaking late afternoon, reviewing the progress that everyone has made. After the review, the trip will end around 4pm. (B, L) Trip Grading | Green 3 |

Our family activity holidays and adventures are all graded Green. All that you require to join these group trips is enthusiasm to try out various outdoor activities and a basic level of fitness. No previous experience of any of the activities is required, as our guides are used to working with beginners and with families.

A reasonable level of fitness is useful, as you will have a couple of full days outside. However, our guides will pitch all activities at a level suitable for the group.

These holidays are designed for families with children aged 8 or 9 – 15 years old (please see the recommended age in the trip dossier). However, if you have slightly younger children who are fit and active, we may be able to tailor the trips – please contact us to discuss this.

Accommodation and Meals

The accommodation for this trip is a family friendly inn, located right beside the beach in a sheltered bay in the Sound of Arisaig, southwest of Fort William. The recently refurbished inn offers comfortable accommodation and a good range of food and drinks, with a strong Scottish slant. The accommodation is in a new annex next to the inn and boasts large, en-suite rooms each of which has a king sized double bed and either a single bed or bunk-beds.

Breakfast is taken at the inn, which also provides us with a packed lunch each day. Evening meals are not included but can also be taken at the inn’s dining room, which has a great reputation for its food. Alternatively, there are some other restaurants a short drive away. Inclusions
