Spectrum History W. Visuals 1980 – 2020 Celebrating 40 Years! (Version 1.2) Spectrum A&E Media 1980-2020 Celebrating 40 Years! Spectrum Productions was established in 1980 in Regina, Saskatchewan to provide multimedia resources for organizations working with students in Canada. A board of committed friends sacrificially stood behind Keith and Jenny Martin to help raise support and give direction to the work. Spectrum’s Roots The roots of Spectrum go back to 1970, when Keith, having graduated with a B.A. in psychology and a minor in philosophy from the University of Regina, spent time at L’Abri Fellowship in Switzerland. L’Abri was and still is a live-in student community founded by Francis and Edith Schaeffer to explore answers to basic philosophical questions from a Christian worldview. 2 In 1971 Keith, Steve Archer and Art Pearson applied for and received a federal Opportunities For Youth grant for a summer project called Street Level: A Multimedia Culture Probe. Inspired by seeing 2100 Productions in the United States, they wanted to do something similar in Canada. With a budget of $8,800 they hired 8 students (Keith, Steve, Art, Gene Haas, Chris Molnar, Steve and Lorne Seibert, and Linda McArdell—and Henry Friesen for the presentation phase) at $1,000 each for 3 months of work. That left $800, and lots of borrowed eQuipment, to produce a 5-screen, 7-projector 80 minute multi-media presentation using contemporary music to look at what people were living for. 3 Some of the artists used in the production were Pink Floyd, Simon & Garfunkle, Strawbs, STREET LEVEL Steppenwolf, Leonard Cohen, Cat Stevens, Moody Soundtrack (1971, final) Blues, Traffic, Chicago, Procol Harem, Black “Careful With That Axe, Eugene” - Pink Floyd (Ummagumma) “I’ve Got a Story” - Gary Wright (Extraction) “At the Zoo” - Simon & Garfunkle (Bookends) Sabbath, King Crimson, and Ford Theatre. The “Martin Luther King’s Dream” - Strawbs (Just a Collection of Antiques & Curios) production ended with Nietzsche’s “Parable of “Power Play” - Steppenwolf (Monster) “The Stories of the Street” (st. 1, 2) - Leonard Cohen (Songs of Leonard Cohen) “MLK’s Dream” (last verse) - Strawbs the Madman,” comparing us to planets in need of Electronic music - The Wild Bull a sun for light and warmth. “Where Do the Children Play?” - Cat Stevens (Tea for the Tillerman) “How Is It We Are Here?” - Moody Blues (A Question of Balance) “Genesis in Reverse/Careful . Axe” - Nietzsche/Pink Floyd “Who You Belong To” - Ford Theatre (Trilogy for the Masses) “Postlude” - Ford Theatre (Trilogy for the Masses) 4 Chapter I: Exploring Values and Beliefs (1980-88) After completing an Honours B.A., a Master of Divinity degree, and marrying Jenny Milone in Nyack, N.Y., in 1980 Keith and a board of friends (Merv Hepting, Verlyn Wilson, Bill Hall, Jenny, and later Gary Nelson) founded Spectrum Productions Association in Regina, Saskatchewan as a nonprofit media organization exploring values and beliefs. With a Canada Summer Youth Employment Program grant they hired 4 students, Karen Travis, Darrel Reid, Daryl McKinnon, and Daryle Niedermayer—all Darrels spelled differently(!) and then joined for a few weeks by Keith’s brother Darrell, also spelled differently. Together with Keith, Jenny and Joanne Austring, they produced the first version of In Search of a Sun, a 3-screen, 9-projector multimedia presentation. 6 In 1981, with help from photographer Don Riggott from Minnesota, Spectrum produced Between Reflections: A Hard Look At an Eclipsed Sun, exploring the possibility that the God of Judeo-Christianity offers what we are looking for as an adeQuate sun to answer to and to belong to. 7 Here are the soundtrack lists for the original productions. IN SEARCH OF A SUN BETWEEN REFLECTIONS: A hard look at an eclipsed sun Soundtrack (1980 version) Soundtrack (1981) (Introduction) “Have Mercy Love” - Janice Ian (Night Rains) “Careful With That Axe, Eugene” - Pink Floyd (Ummagumma) “Long Away” - Queen (A Day at the Races) “Is There Anybody Out There?” - Pink Floyd (The Wall) “When All the Laughter Dies in Sorrow” - Chicago (Chicago III) (Materialism) “The Winner” - Randy Stonehill (Welcome to Paradise) N1 “Meanings Will Change” - Paul Stookey (Paul And) “Dialogue With the Devil” (vs. 1) - Bruce Cockburn (Sunwheel Dance) “Comfortably Numb” - Pink Floyd (The Wall) (Sex) N2 “Open Invitation” - Santana (Inner Secrets) “Pardon Me” - Larry Norman (Only Visiting This Planet) “Rumours of Glory” - Bruce Cockburn (Humans) “Dialogue” (vs. 3) - Cockburn N3 (Drugs & Drinking) “Fun It” - Queen (Jazz) “Benediction” - Stealers Wheel (Right or Wrong) “However Much I Booze” - The Who (The Who By Numbers) N4 (Science & Technology) “Celebration Suite” (instrumental) - Chick Corea “Blinded by Science” - Foreigner (Head Games) “He is Risen” (pt. 1) - John Michael Talbot (The Beautiful City) “Epitaph” - King Crimson (In the Court of the Crimson King) “You Don’t Have to Play the Horses” (vs. 3) - Bruce Cockburn (Night Vision) N5 (Love & Friendship) “Death in Jerusalem” - Parchment (Hollywood Sunset) “That’s Enough for Me” - Peter Yarrow (That’s Enough for Me) “Journey to Calvary” - Clear Light Productions (Because I Am) “This Morning” - Justin Hayward & John Lodge (Blue Jays) N6 (Human Potential) “Willpower” - Dominic Troiano (Burnin’ At The Stake) “Be Careful What You Sign” - Larry Norman (So Long Ago the Garden) “Dust in the Wind” - Kansas (Point of Know Return) N7 (New Consciousness & The East) “On the Other Side” - Kansas (Monolith) “He is Risen” (pt. 2) - John Michael Talbot “In Held Twas in I” - Procol Harum (Shine On Brightly) N8 (The Occult) “Crystal Ball” - Styx (Crystal Ball) “Hallelu” - John Michael Talbot (Beginnings) “Black Sabbath” - Black Sabbath (Black Sabbath) N9 (Conclusion) “Time” (pt. 1) - Pink Floyd (The Dark Side of the Moon) “Reflections” - Cliff Richard (About That Man) “On the Other Side” (vs. 3) - Kansas “Time” (pt. 2) - Pink Floyd N10 “Careful With That Axe, Eugene” - Pink Floyd (with Nietzsche’s Parable of the Madman) “Dweller By a Dark Stream” - Bruce Cockburn (Mummy Dust) “The Great Gig in the Sky” - Pink Floyd (The Dark Side of the Moon) Spectrum’s original brochure explained why the name Spectrum was chosen: SPECTRUM . Examining the full range of what people believe in . Reflecting sights and sounds in a clear pattern and progression of thought . Shedding light on what it means to be human, made in God’s image. This is Spectrum. A few years later, even as part of Inter-Varsity, the last line would be changed to “Shedding light on what it means to be human—physically, socially, spiritually.” That is what Spectrum’s brochures have said ever since. 8 In the fall of 1981 Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship in Alberta hired Keith and Jenny to show both productions in universities and colleges across Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan, based out of Calgary. In January of 1982 Keith and Jenny and Spectrum moved to Toronto to work with IVCF Ontario under the leadership of Don Posterski. For 2 years Keith was also the IVCF staff worker at York University. 9 In the summer of 1982 In Search of a Sun had a minor revision. TRUST ACCOUNT (Also known as an IOLTA account – Interest on Lawyer’s Trust Account) Is a trust account required for all attorneys in Arizona? No, not all attorneys will require the use of a trust account. Public, corporate and indigent representation agency attorneys are a few that do not require the use of a trust account. Also, attorneys who do not accept money that belongs in the trust account do not need one. Be sure to read Rules 42 E.R. 1.5 (fees), 1.15 (safekeeping property) and Rule 43, Ariz.R.Sup.Ct. I. How to determine whether your practice requires a trust account. 1. What does your fee agreement determine? As stated in Rule 42, E.R. 1.5, written agreements are required with every client. This should include the scope of representation and how much. Therefore, does your fee agreement say earned upon receipt or advanced fees and costs. 2. • David Gilmour Fra Pink Floyd Sender David Gilmour in Concert Ud Som App!
2012-11-07 09:00 CET David Gilmour fra Pink Floyd sender David Gilmour In Concert ud som App! The best-selling ‘David Gilmour In Concert’ full-length show, originally released on DVD, is now available as an App for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, and will shortly be available in an Android version. For the first time ever, all the content of an original DVD is contained in an App – including the extras – in a viewable form for portable devices. In 2001 and 2002, Pink Floyd’s singer and guitarist David Gilmour performed some solo dates, originally as part of Robert Wyatt’s Meltdown Festival at London’s Royal Festival Hall, returning to the venue in the subsequent year. Playing in a solo context, the critically acclaimed run of concerts saw David Gilmour performing some tracks with just voice and guitar, and others with a mostly acoustic group including double bass, guitar, cello, drums, a large vocal choir, and the late Michael Kamen on piano and cor anglais. In 2001, Robert Wyatt guested on ‘Comfortably Numb’, while the 2002 concerts also saw contributions from Bob Geldof (‘Comfortably Numb’) and Pink Floyd’s Richard Wright (‘Breakthrough’). Now, in 2012, using new technology pioneered by London authoring house The Pavement, EMI and David Gilmour are able to present all the features of the DVD as a smartphone App. Said Andy Evans of ‘The Pavement’: “We worked closely with David and his team on the multi-format ‘Live In Gdansk’ project and followed that up with the DVD menu design and authoring of the ‘Why Pink Floyd?’ campaign, so it was a pleasure to be able to rejoin forces and take the lead on such a quality programme.” ‘David Gilmour In Concert’ has been a very successful worldwide release from EMI since its launch in 2002, presenting the Pink Floyd guitarist and singer in an intimate context at the Royal Festival Hall, London.

  • Chapter 9 Ch. 9 Page 1
Chapter 9 “You can just take that back, boy!” This order, given by me to Cecil Jacobs, was the beginning of a rather thin time for Jem and me. My fists were clenched and I was ready to let fly. Atticus had promised me he would wear me out if he ever heard of me fighting any more; I was far too old and too big for such childish things, and the sooner I learned to hold in, the better off everybody would be. I soon forgot. Cecil Jacobs made me forget. He had announced in the schoolyard the day before that Scout Finch’s daddy defended niggers. I denied it, but told Jem. “What’d he mean sayin‘ that?” I asked. “Nothing,” Jem said. “Ask Atticus, he’ll tell you.” “Do you defend niggers, Atticus?” I asked him that evening. “Of course I do. Don’t say nigger, Scout. That’s common.” “‘s what everybody at school says.” “From now on it’ll be everybody less one—” “Well if you don’t want me to grow up talkin‘ that way, why do you send me to school?” My father looked at me mildly, amusement in his eyes. Despite our compromise, my campaign to avoid school had continued in one form or another since my first day’s dose of it: the beginning of last September had brought on sinking spells, dizziness, and mild gastric complaints. I went so far as to pay a nickel for the privilege of rubbing my head against the head of Miss Rachel’s cook’s son, who was afflicted with a tremendous ringworm.

DOI: 10.2478/genst-2013-0006 “A THING LIKE DEATH”: MEDICAL REPRESENTATIONS OF FEMALE BODIES IN SHAKESPEARE’S PLAYS GRETA PERLETTI Universities of Bergamo and Trento, Italy via Salvecchio 19 - 24129 Bergamo. Italy [email protected] Abstract: While the hysterical ailments of women in Shakespeare’s works have often been read from psychoanalytical standpoints, early modern medicine may provide new insights into the ‘frozen’, seemingly dead bodies of some of his heroines, such as Desdemona, Thaisa, and Hermione. In the wake of recent critical work (Peterson, Slights, Pettigrew), this paper will shed fresh light on the ‘excess’ of female physiology and on Shakespeare’s creative redeployment of some medical concepts and narratives. Keywords: early modern literature and medicine hysteria, interdisciplinary approach, representation 1. Introduction In the last scene of King Lear, the king famously enters the scene carrying the corpse of Cordelia in his arms. A distracted man and a bereaved father, Lear stages for the audience a strange and heartbreaking test of the reality of his daughter’s death. 93 […] Lend me a looking glass. If that her breath will mist or stain the stone, Why, then she lives. (King Lear, v, iii, 275-77) Kent and Edgar are witnesses to Lear’s delusion, and the tragedy of the king unfolds before the audience’s eyes as he entertains the hope that Cordelia might come back to life, and that his fate might accordingly be less cruel and maddening. As we know, there is no redemption for Lear’s tragic mistake, or for his tragic fate; and yet, this is a moment when the spectators sit there suspended between tragic pity and some tiny, underlying hope that the wronged daughter might only appear to be dead; that she might move again, speak, and ultimately forgive her father: This feather stirs.

  • Pink Floyd Feirer Jubileum Med Nytt Vinylslipp
David Gilmour uttalte følgende: “The three of us went into Britannia Row studios, and improvised for two weeks. Playing together and starting from scratch was interesting and exciting, it kick-started the album and the process was very good, it was collaborative and felt more cohesive.” The Division Bell inneholder 11 låter inkludert "A Great Day For Freedom", "Keep Talking" (featuring a sampled Stephen Hawking), "High Hopes", og Pink Floyd’s eneste Grammy-vinnende låt, instrumental-låta "Marooned".
