Dorothea Rust
*1955, in Zug, lives in Zurich
• My professional activity begins as a professional dancer. The years in New York from 1983-1990 were formative; the dancing collaboration with choreographers, musicians* in New York created the basis for interdisciplinary thinking. The individual phases from this period are not listed in this curriculum.
• In the course of my studies in Fine Arts and Cultural studies at the ZHdK 1999- 2006, my performative practice gradually shifted towards performance.
• For more than twenty years now, I have been working mainly in the art field, where my artistic practice consists of live performance works and performative interventions. Numerous participations in exhibitions, performance festivals, on music and art stages in Europe, North and South America and Asia, often in collaborations.
• This commitment was recognised in 2007 and 2016 with the Performance Art Award Switzerland.
• Since 2016/17 I have also been applying the experience I have gained in my artistic practice in the field of video film.
