After a tough start to the 2005 season—USI was 0-8 to start the year—the Screaming Eagles bounced back to win a school- record 18 straight games. The two will direct a team of softball players from around the country to compete in the Invitational Friendship Softball series from June 30 – July 12, 2006. Established in 1991, USA Athletes International is a nonprofit organization dedicated to giving amateur ath- letes the opportunity to experience the competition, history, and culture of other countries on an interna- tional level. Kunkle and Medico directed a USA Athletes International squad to the championship of the Robur ‘58 Softball Tournament last summer. Other USI players to compete over seas for USA Athletes International include Brooke Biggs ’05, Shannon Emmons ’04, Kristen Houseworth ’05, Sunny Oelling ’05, and Nichole Pike.
