N BEHALF of Tipperary County Board if gives me great pleasure to welcome you all to Semple Stadium this Oevening for our County Semor Football Final between and Moyle Rovers. Both teams have come through our Championship to battle for county honours and we look forward to a thrilling contest and wish each team well in their quest for the O'Dwyer Cup. We have this evening many inter-county players playing for Clonmel Commercials and Moyle Rovers and we expect this will reflect in the standard of football being played. Our sponsors, Clean Ireland Recycling, join us at the final stage of our championship and I extend a cead mile failte to them and thank them for the continued support of hurling and football in Tipperary. This evening we honour the Clonmel Commercials teams of '982/ 1986/1989 and 1990, where over this period, 49 different players won county senior football medals with their club. The development of football in Tipperary was never more evident than this year when both our Minor Football and U2' Football teams contested their AII-Irelands. While losing both, it was still a fantastic achievement to reach this level and we salute the people who have worked tirelessly with each panel over the year. Best wishes to our Referee and his officials in their duties this evening.

IN THE GAA family, a county final is as special a day as they come. Look at the careers of the greatest player.; in the game, in both codes, and you'll find that many cite their fir.;t county final victory as their greatest moment yet. ahead even of All-Ireland wins. It all starts with the club. The final itself is the culmination of an epic journey that has probably required over 100 training sessions and games, has been laced with highs and, no doubt, punctuated with lows. There may have been the narrowest of scrapes along the route, shows o f deep and character defining defiance; player.; who have grown up, o ther.; who perhaps have slipped back. There may even have been dressing-room upheavals and clearings of the air but the collective journey will undeniably have been a gradual bonding, young and not so young men from the same place playing for the pride of place. There will have been moments best forgotten and other.; always to be remembered. It's a magical story packed into a few months of a life that will be told by the winner.; for the rest of their lives. And it all crystalizes on this great County Final day. The clash of Clonmel Commercials and Moyle Rovers for the top Tipperary football honour5, however; will bring an additional edge to this year's final. There will be more than the normal degree of intensity, passion and deep, deep parochialism. Because when neighbours collide, the sound of victory is always louder; the pain of defeat always deeper. It's more than about a county title victory; there's bragging rights at stake. For sure in this one, the winner takes all! That's why, as sponsors of the Tipperary Club Championships, Clean Ireland is rubbing its hands in anticipation and excitement at what's ahead of us in Semple Stadium today. It's not quite an 'old firm' - Clonmel having claimed the first of their 15 titles back in 1944, with Moyle Rovers more of a newcomer having got on the honour.; lis t for the first time 20 year.; ago - but the exchanges sure will be hard and, no doubt fair. What a stage, too, for this drama to be played our. Semple Stadium will be resplendent in wha t we hope will be late autumn sunshine and a credit to the team responsible for ensuring that this hallowed venue remains one of the great surfaces and grounds in Ireland. As a family founded and owned business operating in every parish across the county, we know what today will mean for the winners. Since we began sponsoring the Tipperary Club Championships three year.; ago, we have been party to some incredible games in both codes and we expect today to be no different. Ironically, those three years have been a remarkable period of growth and success for our own team, with Clean Ireland Recycling having claimed a three-in-a row of national titles in this industry by winning back-to-back Repak Awards for Kerbside Collection Service of the Year over the past three year.;. Just like Clonmel Commercials and Moyle Rovers route to today's final, that took a lot of hard work, dedication and pride in what we do. We wish both sides well but, in this one, for sure 'to the victor goes the spoils'! CAROLINE WALSH Financial Controller
