STATE OF ALABAMA MOBILE COUNTY

The Chickasaw City Council met in regular session, via Zoom video conference call, on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at 7:00 PM with the following members present: Ken Sterrett, Jason Rawls, Adam Bourne, James Hanson, Jennifer White and Mayor Barry Broadhead who presided. City Clerk Jessica Veals and City Attorney Nash Campbell were also present. Mr. Rawls opened the meeting with prayer.

ADOPTION OF AGENDA

Mr. Rawls made a motion seconded by Mr. Bourne and Mr. Hanson to approve the agenda for the regular scheduled council meeting on January 26, 2021. Motion carried and so ordered.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Mr. Bourne made a motion seconded by Miss White to approve the minutes of the , 2021 regular scheduled meeting minutes as previously distributed. Motion carried and so ordered.

COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE MAYOR

Mayor Broadhead presented a quote from Vulcan Signs in the amount of $3,000.00 to replace the street signs lost during the 2020 hurricanes. Mr. Bourne made a motion seconded by Miss White to approve the purchase of replacement signs. Motion carried and so ordered.

Mr. Broadhead requested a update on the interviews held for the vacant Chickasaw School Board position. Mr. Bourne presented a nomination for Chris Hanson to be appointed to the Chickasaw School Board. Mr. Bourne made a motion seconded by Mr. Sterrett to appoint Chris Hanson to the Chickasaw School Board. Mr. J. Hanson abstained. Motion carried and so ordered.

Mr. Broadhead presented a list of surplus items no longer being utilized by the City of Chickasaw to the council to place on Gov Deals for sale. Mr. Rawls and Mr. Hanson made a motion seconded by Mr. Bourne to approve the list of surplus items to be placed on Gov Deals for sale. Motion carried and so ordered.

Mayor presented a proclamation declaring 2021 as Black History Month in the City of Chickasaw. Miss White made a motion seconded by Mr. Hanson to adopt the proclamation. Motion carried and so ordered.

Mayor Broadhead presented a proclamation declaring February 2021 as Career Technical Education Month in the City of Chickasaw. Mr. Bourne made a motion seconded by Mr. Rawls to adopt the proclamation. Motion carried and so ordered.

APPEALS

There were no appeals presented at this time.

PRESENTATION OF PETITIONS AND OTHER COMMUNICATIONS TO THE COUNCIL

No petitions or other communications were available to present at this time.

CALL FOR PUBLIC HEARINGS

There was no public hearing presented.

REPORTS

Attorney’s Report: Mr. Nash had nothing to present.

Chief’s Report: Mr. Fillingim gave the 2020 Public Safety Report.

Building Inspector Report: Mr. Dennis Sullivan gave the December 2020 Inspection Report.

RESOLUTIONS AND ORDINANCES

There were no resolutions and ordinances.

FINANCIAL REPORT

The accounts payable were presented in the amount of $28,334.63. Miss White made a motion seconded by Mr. Rawls and Mr. Sterrett to place the accounts payable in line for payment. Motion carried and so ordered.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Mr. Rawls commended the citizens for their efforts in continuing cleaning up the city after the MLK Day of Service.

There are four dumpsters available in the city to use through , 2021.

ADJOURNMENT

There being no further business, Mr. Bourne made a motion seconded by Mr. Hanson to adjourn the meeting at 7:15 PM. Motion carried and so ordered.
