Project Summary This project involved the design, construction and fi t out of a health and fi tness centre, built to a high standard and in record time. Midas negotiated the scheme with Invicta Leisure after a successful contract at Cwmbran.

Constructed on Locking Road, the Health Club comprises a 25m pool, fi tness suite, health and beauty area, a hydrotherapy pool, bar and restaurant and changing facilities.

Communal facilities include: a wellness area with a hydrotherapy pool, sauna, steam room and gym; two residents’ lounges; and a commercial kitchen and restaurant. The site includes ground fl oor and undercover car parking providing 98 spaces. Each apartment has a recessed or protruding balcony and all are fi tted out to high specifi cation, with underfl oor heating, full height ceilings and fully tiled bathrooms.

Project Summary The main contract was for the removal of asbestos-based cladding to four classroom blocks and all of the existing uPVC windows, at a school in Backwell. Midas installed an external cladding system complete with uPVC windows and resurfaced the roofs with a trocal membrane system.

As a variation to the main contract Midas built an extension to the school’s main reception and completed refurbishment of the original building, including resurfacing a large area of the external works leading to the new reception. The Super Mare Cygnet Hospital

Since opening, this high quality building has become Hungry Horse’s most visited property in the South West.

Customer Satisfaction 90% Project Summary The construction of a two-storey, steel frame Police Response Unit in a development area on the outskirts of Weston-super-Mare, with a drainage culvert, access road and landscaping. The new police headquarters is a pit stop for briefi ngs of road-based crews, strategically located for traffi c offi cers just off the A370 dual carriageway.

The building features external Brunel Blue engineering brickwork, insulated white render and suspended ventilated block and beam slabs, with the foundations constructed of driven piles with beams on pile caps. Internally, the facilities include changing areas, meeting and interview rooms, offi ces, and an independent ambulance duty and plant rooms.

The team achieved £600,000 of savings for the client through a signifi cant review and re-tender of the M&E and groundworks packages. Midas engaged with the community, using local subcontractors where possible and employing approximately 60% of the workforce from within the local area. Police Rapid Response Unit

Location: North Somerset Customer Satisfaction Client: Avon & Somerset Constabulary Value: £2.5m 100% Duration: 35 weeks Customer Satisfaction Project Summary 99% The construction of a 4,319m² Knightstone Housing HQ three-storey Cat A offi ce block, housing 230 Knightstone Housing Association staff who were previously working across six locations. It was the fi rst development on the Weston Gateway Offi ce Park, in Weston-Super-Mare. Constructed to BREEAM Very Good, the building includes a sustainable drainage system, sensor controls for water and lighting, energy-effi cient air conditioning and a roof-mounted PV array.

Enabling works included access road construction, top soil removal, and reduced levels. The structure is Metsec steel frame with fl exible fl oor plates to allow for multiple tenants. External works included paving, parking and landscaping.
