ENVR/EnviBayes Workshop on Bayesian Environmetrics

INFORMATION FOR PARTICIPANTS Key Locations and Pfahl Hall (2110 Tuttle Park Pl., Columbus, OH 43210) The Blackwell Inn is one of the two conference hotels and is located on the State University main campus. The oral presentation sessions on Friday and Saturday morning will be held in Room 140 of the adjacent Pfahl Hall, which is connected to the Blackwell Inn on the first floor. Conference registration, for participants not attending the short course, will be outside of Room 140. The Blackwell Inn has a small restaurant (provides room service) and a bar (Blackwell Lounge) on the first floor. An informal gathering on Thursday evening will take place at the Lounge from 7:00 – 9:00 PM. Hampton Inn (3160 Olentangy River Rd., Columbus, OH 43202) The Hampton Inn is the other conference hotel. It is about a 30-40 minute walk from the Hampton Inn to the Blackwell Inn. Participants staying at the Hampton Inn should review the information about transportation (including shuttle bus times) to the workshop events below. Jennings Hall (1735 Neil Ave., Columbus, OH 43210) The short course will take place in the Mathematical Biosciences Institute’s lecture hall (Room 355, Jennings Hall). Jennings Hall is a 10-minute walk from the Blackwell through campus. Participants attending the short course can register outside of Room 355.

Transportation Port Columbus Airport to Hotels Participants flying to Columbus should either make prior arrangements to take a hotel shuttle or catch a taxi or Uber from the lower (arrivals) level of the airport. The drive to the hotels is approximately 15 minutes. Hampton Inn to Ohio State Campus The walk from the Hampton Inn to the Blackwell Inn/Pfahl Hall will take 30+ minutes – from the Hampton Inn, go south on Olentangy River Rd., take a left on Lane Ave., and then right on Tuttle Park Pl. A shuttle bus will transport workshop participants at the following times: THURSDAY, MAR 31 12:30 PM – Hampton Inn to Jennings Hall (for short course) FRIDAY, APR 1 7:50 AM – Hampton Inn to the Blackwell Inn/Pfahl Hall 9:00 PM – Blackwell Inn/Pfahl Hall to the Hampton Inn SATURDAY, APR 2 8:00 AM – Hampton Inn to the Blackwell Inn/Pfahl Hall Other For transportation at other times, please call a taxi (e.g., Express Yellow Cab, 614-822-8666), use Uber, or take a hotel shuttle bus. Dining Options Coffee, tea, and water will be available during workshop breaks on Friday and Saturday. Except for the workshop banquet on Friday evening, no food will be provided. Here are some dining suggestions: Thursday Dinner Short course participants and others arriving in time for dinner on Thursday can find many options for dinner on High St. (casual options) and in area (upscale options) – see the map above. There will also be an informal gathering (“opening mixer”) at the Blackwell Inn Lounge from 7:00 - 9:00 PM on Thursday. Friday Lunch The Blackwell Inn has a restaurant, but the hotel would prefer participants go elsewhere for lunch. Panera Bread is a short walk from the Blackwell Inn – go right out of the main entrance and turn left on Lane Ave. Alternatively, participants can walk to High St. (see map above) where there are several casual restaurants. Quick Snacks/Breakfast There is a small coffee shop on the first floor of (large modern building with marble shingles), which is across Woodruff Ave. from the Blackwell Inn/Pfahl Hall.

2 For Speakers All oral presentations are 25 minutes in length, allowing 5 minutes for questions. Presenters should upload their slides onto the computer prior to the session in which they are speaking. Presenters needing to use their own computers should let the session chair know in advance.

For Poster Presenters The poster session will take place on Friday evening from 5:30 – 7:00 PM in the Blackwell Inn 2nd Floor Lobby, outside of the ballroom. Poster presenters should come to this area between 5:00 – 5:30 PM to set up. Posters should be taken down before dinner, a little before 7:00 PM. Posters will be displayed on 4 ft. wide by 3 ft. tall foam boards placed on tripod easels. The boards can hold 12 slides (landscape orientation) or a full-size printed poster of the dimension of the board or smaller.
