Wents Cottage Sandling Road | | Hythe | CT21 4HD Seller Insight

We bought this house about 17 years ago and it was in a pretty parlous state at the time. But we could see the potential and loved the feel of the place and its location. It took us two years to extend and renovate the house and, although we wanted to create a family home that was suitable for the 21st century we also wanted to retain and even enhance the period character of the place so we put back original beams, built a new inglenook fireplace and even reclaimed the oak beams at the top of the stairs from Brook Church. It has been a wonderful place to bring up our family but they have now left home and we feel it is time to downsize. However we will miss it, particularly the wonderful parties and barbecues we have hosted as it is a great place for entertaining.

Although we are completely surrounded by countryside we are only a couple of minutes drive from the charming village of where there is Brockhill Park and Brockhill Performing Arts College as well as Saltwood primary school, rated Outstanding by Ofsted, a village shop, pub and restaurant. Nearby Hythe is a delightful seaside town with its individual shops, bars, restaurants and pavement cafes as well as Waitrose and other supermarkets.

There is the excellent Hotel Imperial with its golf course and leisure centre as well as cricket, squash, tennis and sailing clubs and for real golfing enthusiasts there is the Henry Cotton designed Sene Valley golf course, Etchinghill golf course and Roundwood Hall. You will find excellent grammar schools in and and private schools in Ashford, Canterbury and Dover. Transport links are very good with Sandling station only a minute’s drive and it is only about 35 minutes to St Pancras if you drive to Ashford International, so you can be in central London within an hour door to door, while we are literally 30 seconds drive from the M20 for London and Stone Street for Canterbury”.*
