Justin Kripps took a very unorthodox route to competing in the . Being born in Hawaii just outside a small village on the southern slopes of Mauna Loa, Justin split time being based out of Summerland, BC and Na’alehu, HI while his parents worked with UNICEF. Not having seen snow until attending high school full time in Summerland, Kripps was a rising star running the 100m sprint on the Provincial Youth Team when he was invited to attend the 2010 Olympic Winter Games bid announcement at BC place in . Since transitioning to Bobsleigh when he was 19, Justin quickly has become one of the nations top brakemen, racing with to multiple World Cup medals and a 5th place finish at the Vancouver Olympic Games before moving up to the drivers seat and finishing as the top Canadian in the 2-man at the Sochi Olympic Games. With a rapid ascent to the World Cup circuit Justin had experienced all the highs and lows of competing against the best in the world before having a breakout season in 2017 capturing the Silver Medal at the World Championships in Germany, upsetting a home team sweep of the podium. Kripps is looking to ride that momentum into the 2018 season and fight for a medal at the Olympic Games in South Korea.
