Performing Arts Special Collections, University of California, Los Angeles. Biography The Aluminum Corporation of America sponsored various television programs during the 1950's and early 1960's. The sponsor started with , a 60 minute live anthology drama in the fall of 1955. The 1956/57 television season brought a trend to replace live broadcasts with pre-recorded film. The Alcoa Hour went off the air in September 1957 and became a thirty minute filmed program. Other Alcoa shows followed in the late 1950s and early 1960s: Alcoa Premiere, Alcoa Presents, and . Scope and Content Collection consists of various script drafts and production credits related to Alcoa Presents, Alcoa Premiere, One Step Beyond, and Fred Astaire Presents television programs.
