ANTONIA KIDMAN TOP 10 PLACES TO VISIT IN

Antonia Kidman is a highly respected media host, author, magazine columnist and women’s ambassador … as well as being a mum to six children! In 2010, Antonia moved to Singapore with her family, calling the Lion City her new home.

“The real Singapore is a unique blend of Malay, Chinese and Indian cultures, mixed with elements of old world colonial charm and set against the backdrop of a dynamic, vibrant and contemporary city.

“All you have to do is scratch the surface and you’ll discover a culture and people that are simultaneously fascinating, welcoming and warm.”

1. ArtScience Museum 10 Bayfront Avenue, Singapore, 018956

The ArtScience Museum at is a great museum because it’s centrally located and offers some fantastic exhibitions. Some of my favourites have been: ‘The Titanic’, ‘Mummy: Secrets of the Tomb’ and the current ‘Dinosaurs’ exhibition.

2. Children’s Garden at 18 Marina Gardens Drive, Singapore, 018953

The new Children’s Garden at the Gardens by the Bay is an extraordinary experience. The gardens surrounding the water park are beautiful and truly represent vegetation from all over the world. This is one of those places that I love to take my family to regularly.

3. High tea at The Fullerton Hotel 1 Fullerton Square, Singapore, 049178

One of the things I love about Singapore is the beautiful colonial buildings to admire. For the ultimate colonial experience I recommend high tea at The Fullerton Hotel – it’s divine!

4. Fort Canning 70 River Valley Road, Singapore, 179037

Fort Canning is an impressive green experience right in the heart of the city that is layered in history from even before the British arrived. I would highly recommend one of the free-guided walks, as it’s a great way to revisit history and contemplate how the British commanders felt in those frantic last days before the fall of Singapore.

5. Changi Museum 1000 Upper Changi Road, Singapore, 507707

What many don’t realise is that Singapore is rich in heritage. As an Australian, what is most meaningful to me is its history during the Second World War. The Changi Museum is a powerful and moving place that offers an understanding of life in the lead up to, and during, the Japanese occupation.

6. MacRitchie Reservoir MacRitchie Reservoir Park, Singapore, 298717

For those who love to keep fit, MacRitchie Reservoir is a great place to run or go for a leisurely walk. I love to run there early in the morning when the temperature is cool. The smells and sounds of the jungle are wonderful and reflect the natural and untouched Singapore that I love. The best bit… keep watch for the monkeys that roam freely throughout the Reservoir.

7. Tekka Market in Little India 665 Buffalo Road, Singapore, 210665

The Tekka Market in Little India is one of my favourite places to visit. I love the busy and vibrant atmosphere and the quality of the produce is exceptional. I do my weekly fruit and veg shop here and regularly pop down for a kopi si (which is a thick, sweet, milky coffee) and kaya toast (kaya is a sweet coconut jam). It’s so sweet and delicious!

8. Boomerang Café, Boat Quay 52 Circular Road, Singapore, 049407

Boomerang Café in Boat Quay is a regular Sunday ritual for us. We often head to Boomerang for brunch and enjoy a traditional Aussie breakfast of bacon, eggs and vegemite toast. It’s a little piece of home! It’s so relaxed and is located along the riverbank so the kids take their scooters and skateboards and ride along the promenade.

9. Tanjong Beach Club, 120 Tanjong Beach Walk, Sentosa Island, Singapore, 098942

Tanjong Beach Club is a fantastic spot for lunch and a swim with the family. It’s the perfect place to spend a chilled day with the children on the beach, hanging out and building sandcastles.

10. National Library Drama Centre 100 Victoria Street, National Library Building, Singapore, 188064

Singapore has so much to offer culturally and I regularly go and watch a local production at the National Library Drama Centre. There are always so many great shows for all the family, particularly productions from local theatre company, Wild Rice.
