Missy Higgins Is Next Headliner At Darwin Convention Centre

12 August 2014

Proving once again its ability to draw headline concerts featuring top Australian and international artists to the Territory, the Darwin Convention Centre announced that multi-platinum-selling Missy Higgins will perform at the venue on 22 October 2014.

Missy is set to light up the stage with her unique style as she brings OZ, her highly anticipated one-off Australian tour to the tropical harbour city.

The tour is part of a creative trio of OZ-themed endeavours undertaken by the multi-talented artist. She has also recorded OZ –the album and penned OZ – the book. Both will be released on 19 September.

The concert will see Missy performing songs from her brand new album – her first in two years – which features her interpretations of Australian classics originally recorded by the likes of Slim Dusty, the Warumpi Band, Paul Kelly and The Drones.

“Missy is one of our most beloved singer and songwriter. We’re excited to host her and her huge fan base at the Centre,” says Darwin Convention Centre General Manager Janet Hamilton. “The venue is perfect for her performing style which comes from heart and soul.”

Missy will share the stage with guest performer Seattle phenomenon Jherek Bischoff.

She will play a series of concert dates throughout September and October, with her OZ trek kicking off in Cairns on 20 September and winding up soon after the Darwin show date in on 29 October.

Tickets will be available from the Darwin Entertainment Centre with a pre-sale for registered fans/members commencing 12-14 August pre-sale and tickets selling to the general public from 14 August.

Last June, Darwin Convention Centre was the epicentre of a sell-out concert featuring British singer in his Moon Landing World Tour. The international standard facility is growing a reputation as a premier entertainment venue with the ability to meet the sophisticated and complex needs of any major event – from family shows to experiential live acts, concerts, and sporting events.
