#becauseofCLD January 2019

Award Winning Service Delivery Last October projects led by Communities staff won two golds and a bronze at the COSLA (public services) Excellence Awards. Dundee Decides gave residents of Dundee the opportunity to decide how to spend £1.2 million on community infrastructure projects across Dundee. It was led by the Communities Section of Neighbourhood Services and was a team effort supported by staff in Environment, colleagues in City Development and across the council working in partnerships with the local community. Work is now underway on the winning projects as voted by 11, 472 Dundee Citizens. Find out where the money is being spent at https://www.dundeedecides.org/dundee-decides-results Get Ready for Work – Employability for Refugees is a partnership programme bringing together our Communities ESOL staff (English for Speakers of Other Languages) and City Development’s Employability Team. They are working in partnership with the Refugee Council and the Third Sector to look at employment opportunities and placements for refugees. Family Fresh Air Club supports young families’ use of local greenspaces. Developed by Dundee’s Countryside Rangers and Community Learning and Development, with support from Scottish Natural Heritage’s ‘Simple Pleasures, Easily Found’ campaign, the club organises outings to parks, woods, beaches and gardens, linking nature activities with family learning and health promotion.
