THE ALLMAN BETTS BAND PRESSKIT The Allman Betts Band The sons of Gregg Allman (Devon Allman) and Dickey Betts (Duane Betts) have joined forces to form The Allman Betts Band. The show features new music, songs from their solo projects and classic Allman Brothers and Gregg Allman tunes in honor of the 50th Anniversary of The Allman Brothers Band. Their debut album, released on June 28, 2019, was recorded at the legendary Muscle Shoals Sound Studios and produced by Matt Ross- Spang (Jason Isbell, Margo Price, John Prine and Elvis Presley). Former Allman Brothers Band keyboardist and current Rolling Stones keyboardist, Chuck Leveall, and former Greg Allman Band Hammond B3 player, Peter Levin, both guested on the record. ABB’s sophomore effort was also recorded at Muscle Shoals with Matt Ross-Spang producing and it is due out in the early summer of 2020. The Allman Betts Band includes Devon Allman, Duane Betts, Berry Oakley Jr. (son of original Allman Brothers Band bassist Berry Oakley), Johnny Stachela on slide guitar, John Ginty on Hammond B3 (Robert Randolph/Dixie Chicks) and Devon Allman Project percussionists R. Scott Bryan (Sheryl Crow) and John Lum. Additionally, Brotherhood of Light, the "original San Francisco psychedelic show" is providing visuals and lighting for the evening. Brotherhood of Light has worked with The Allman Brothers, Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, Led Zeppelin and The Who among others. 2021 Spring/Summer Series
Dear Patrons, Welcome back to live events at the Bologna Performing Arts Center! We are excited to have artists returning to our stage, and look forward to inviting you to attend shows again. Things will be a little different this spring and summer. Due to the ongoing nature of the pandemic, we are going to put each show on sale individually, about 4-6 weeks before each event. This allows us to make sure we are following the most recent executive orders, including audience capacity guidelines. Please refer to the on-sale dates for each artist in this brochure. Seating has been reduced for our Spring/Summer Series, and is being sold in staggered pairs and groups. We ask that you purchase all of the seats in the grouping to ensure that patrons are comfortable being seated together. At this time, all patrons are required to wear masks during their visit to the Bologna Performing Arts Center. All of our staff and volunteers will also wear masks, and do daily temperature checks and symptom monitoring. We ask you to please monitor your own health, and stay home if you do not feel well. We have also increased our cleaning and sanitation regimens. We have invested in new cleaning systems to ensure that the theater is totally sanitized prior to every performance. The goal of the campaign is to raise awareness of chronic hepatitis C virus infection. Cole will join Allman onstage at a benet concert featuring The Allman Brothers Band and other special guests in New York tomorrow, July 27, the eve of World Hepatitis Day. This cause is personal to Cole, who was diagnosed with chronic hepatitis C during a routine blood test in 2008. It was then that she realized she'd been living with the virus for more than 25 years - nearly half of her life. Cole's experience is not uncommon. In fact, chronic hepatitis C is often referred to as the silent disease because – for many people – it can be in the body for decades without any symptoms. Cole is joining the campaign to encourage others with chronic hepatitis C to put aside fear and stigma and take action. Whipping Post The last time I saw Tom Wood alive the scene played out this way. I was heading down Bishop Street when I spotted Tom on the side of the road across from the MWRTA’s headquarters. I’m thinking maybe he was lookin’ for a lift to cover the last 700 yards from the Turning Point to the mother ship. First I groaned, then hesitated, yes hesitated before pulling over to the side of the road and rolling the passenger side window. “Tom, hey Tom, do you want a ride, are you OK?” Tom’s eyes are cloudy and unfocused, they appear to be spinning in his head. “You may need to go to the hospital. Come on, let’s go see your caseworker.” No way, Tom dismisses me. His eyes focus for a moment. “I’m OK. I’ll walk.” As I pull away, the twin throbbing guitars of Duane Allman and Dickey Betts accompanied by the futile existential wail of sorrow by Gregg Allman starts playing between my ears. I learn, when Tom is lying in a hospital bed with the electrical activity in his brain reduced to a mere flicker, that Tom was a heavy metal aficionado.
