FILMNATION ENTERTAINMENT AND THE MARK GORDON COMPANY ANNOUNCE TOBIAS LINDHOLM TO ADAPT GREG MITCHELL’S MANUSCRIPT THE TUNNELS

LOS ANGELES, CA – September 21, 2015 – FilmNation Entertainment and The Mark Gordon Company announced today that Tobias Lindholm (A WAR, , THE HUNT) will write the screenplay adaptation of author Greg Mitchell’s upcoming manuscript THE TUNNELS.

Paul Greengrass (CAPTAIN PHILLIPS, THE BOURNE ULTIMATUM) is set to direct.

The film will tell the untold, true story of a great escape forged by a group of West Germans trying to get their loved ones out of East Berlin, with the unlikely help of American news networks, who funded the expedition.

The film will be produced by Mark Gordon who brought the idea to Greengrass and attached him to direct. Gordon and his head of film, Michele Wolkoff, then brought the project to FilmNation’s Aaron Ryder who will also produce. Ben Browning and Glen Basner from FilmNation Entertainment and Christos Konstantakopoulos will serve as Executive Producers.

Lindholm, who tackles complex themes, is both a writer and director. His most recent feature, the Afghanistan set drama A WAR, premiered to critical acclaim at the 2015 Venice Film Festival. This was a follow-up to his previously well-received film A HIJACKING. Lindholm frequently collaborates with fellow Danish director . He wrote the screenplay for Vinterberg’s critically acclaimed film THE HUNT, starring Mads Mikkelsen, which was the Danish nominee for the 2014 Academy Awards®. Lindholm previously wrote and directed the prison drama “R,” and was regular writer and story creator on the international hit television drama series “Borgen.” Lindholm is repped by WME.

“We have been enormous fans of Tobias for quite some time and have been diligent about finding something for him,” said Gordon & Ryder in a joint statement. “And after hearing his take on Greg’s upcoming manuscript we couldn’t go with anyone else.”

Greg Mitchell is an award-winning American writer and the author of more than a dozen non-fiction books on politics and history of the 20th and 21st centuries. His previous books include “So Wrong For So Long,” “Atomic Cover-Up,” “Hollywood Bomb,” “Vonnegut and Me,” and “Dead Reckoning.” He was previously the Editor of “Editor & Publishers” which covers the news and newspaper industry. In 1993, he won the Goldsmith Book Prize for “Campaign Of The Century.”
