The League does not support or oppose any political party or any candidate. However, it does take positions on legislation after serious study and substantial agreement among its members. Effective advocacy has been an important facet of League activity since its founding, in 1920, as an outgrowth of the women’s suffrage movement. Membership is open to everyone. The League is supported solely by membership dues and by contributions from those who believe in its purpose.
