This signals that the Union is in good heart and that our members are actively engaged and care about what we are doing. Instead it is used to restore tracks and bridges which suffered from weather-related flooding. We may have KiwiRail but the reality is that not a lot has changed. It remains an entity expected to provide all of its operating and repair capital from its operating revenues. That may work if it was just the operating divisions but the track infrastructure needs to be funded entirely out of the Government’s Transport Fund. What do you think?
