WELSH COUNCIL UPDATE Autumn 2010

Please note minutes, agenda and other notices are all posted on the village website www.welsh-st-donats-community.btck.com (note the slight change in domain name) then follow the link to the Community Council.

In Hensol Forest the improvements to the access at the picnic area car park are now complete. However I am sure you will have noticed that trees in the Forest are under the threat from Sudden Oak Death and Japanese Larch disease, instructions to help limit the spread are posted at all entrances. You will also notice over the next few months increased activity in the Forest as the Forestry Commission make every effort to contain the diseases.

There were no crimes recorded during the summer months in the Welsh St Donats area, but the Police reminded us to remain vigilant and to ring 101 if suspicious.

The Council are keeping up pressure on the Vale Council to improve road surfaces, however if you feel strongly about the condition of our lanes, please write in or email the Vale, specifically Councillor Gordon Kemp, Leader of the Council or Councillor Geoff Cox, Cabinet Member for Visible Services, both at Vale of Council, Civic Offices, Barry CF63 4RU. The more voices the better.

Andrew Foyle represented the Council at a One Voice regional meeting and will be going to the AGM and a training session in the autumn. The Council was also represented by Bill Fawcett at a meeting of the Hall Committee, where it was agreed that the Committee should apply for a grant application to refurbish the kitchen. New double doors and windows with blinds have now been installed.

The National Eisteddfod 2012 is to be held on land near Llandow, if you feel that you would like to take part on any level, the organiser, Hywel Wyn Edwards, would like you to get in touch by emailing [email protected].

The Council discussed planning applications for 12, Tair Onen for a two storey extension, Pwll y Darren Farm for refurbishment and extension of the main house and 3 Tair Onen for a two storey extension.
