Dear Parishioners,

Last week it was announced that the 12:45PM would be ending on Father’s Day, June 16th and our new parish Weekend Mass Schedule will be 5:00PM on Saturday evenings; 7:30AM, 8:45AM, 10:00AM, 11:30AM and 5:30PM on Sundays. Change in routines and habits are never easy. Some may feel that their Mass has been taken away, that is understandable. The reality is that the 12:45PM population has been small on a vast majority of the Sundays throughout the year. The other issue, pressing on my mind, is the question of how many we will have in the future at St. Patrick’s? In having six Masses, it would allow for two priests to cover a weekend, if necessary. Also, please remember in addition to the weekend obligation Masses, on any given weekend, we will have two or three Weddings, Funerals, Memorial Masses and Baptisms plus the fifteen week day Masses, and the three to four Funerals per week. Throughout the academic year the priests are also present in the School and Religious Education Program. This is the last revision to the Mass Schedule for the foreseeable future. Baptism times for both Saturday and Sunday will now be 1:00PM, and Sunday Weddings will now have a Mass option at 3:00PM. These changes have been made, in consultation with the Priests of the Parish, Parish Staff and the Finance and Parish Councils, after many prayer filled discussions. Thank you for your understanding.

The Feast Day of St. Stephen, the proto martyr, is celebrated on December 26th. However, we hear about the description of his death in today’s Reading from the Acts of the Apostles. In this account St. Stephen has a vision of God’s glory. The Lord in the today prayers that His followers will see the glory which the Father has given Him. This is what St. Stephen sees in his vision. His death and the reception of his spirit marks the completion of his journey to his Heavenly home. As it will be for us in our own time as well. St. Stephen’s death begins a period in the Church’s history where Her greatest witnesses achieved their holiness by the witness of their very lives for the faith. A day does not go by these days without there being a story in which young Christians have been murdered because of their faith. These modern witnesses to the faith remind us of our history past and present.

Father’s Day is Sunday, June 16th. Consider a Mass Memorial to honor your father, or a loved one. Please see the bulletin announcement in the bulletin for more information on our Father’s Day Novena Card’s.

Have a great week.

Msgr. Steven R. Camp

WE FIND STRENGTH IN COMMUNITY BEREAVEMENT SUPPORT

There are many paths that we walk in our life experience but none more difficult as the one we walk when we experience the death of a loved one. This loss can affect us in many different ways.

Grief and bereavement is a process, not an event. Working through it is an important step towards healing and renewed growth. The death of a loved one is not something we “get over.” However, the heart can heal if we are willing to take positive Parish Mass steps. and BBQ! It can sometimes be helpful to share the challenges of your loss with others who are experiencing or have experienced the same loss. Support groups provide an opportunity to share stories, to simply listen, to encourage others or be encouraged. In a support group you will have the assurance that you are in a totally All are invited! confidential environment receiving the support of your facilitators as well as the group members. Sunday St. Patrick’s parish invites you to join us for our support June 30th group beginning Monday, June 24th, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
