Buy something you haven’t tried from the Fair Trade stall (second Sundays of the month). Join a Cathedral group. Change the way you give your time or money to support the Cathedral’s life and work.

News and Notices RECYCLED PAPER will continue to be used for service booklets and throughout the Cathedral Offices, in our bid to be more eco-friendly PETITION FOR ZIMBABWE You are invited today to sign the petition on the Cathedral welcome table calling upon the Government to stop forcibly repatriating Zimbabwean citizens seeking refuge in the UK until their safety can be assured. There are a number of Zimbabweans in Derby potentially affected by this, including a member of the Cathedral community. Maureen Priddin, chair JPICC HOW TO LIVE, a sermon series for Lent, continues at 6.00 pm tonight at Choral Evensong with How to Tell the Truth. The preacher is the Right Revd Jan McFarlane, of Repton and Acting . Next Sunday, 24th March, at Evensong, the Venerable Dr Christopher Cunliffe, , will preach on How to Remember. BREAD OF LIFE, the Bridge Chapel Lent Course, continues on Monday 18th March and meets in the Beddoes Room every Monday from 2.30 – 4.00 pm. QUIET DAY at the Convent of the Holy Name led by Canon Sheana Barby on Tuesday March 19th from 10 am - 3.30 pm: all are welcome. The cost is £10. Drinks are provided but please bring your lunch. THE MOTHERS UNION will meet in the Beddoes Room from 10.15am on Tuesday 26th March for their monthly Prayer Group meeting, beginning with coffee at 10.15 am. All are welcome. THE JULIAN GROUP is a small ecumenical group, affiliated to the nationwide Julian Meetings, and meets regularly to spend an hour in meditation. All are welcome. THE DERBY CHORISTERS will be singing Evensong at the Cathedral on 30th March at 5.15 pm. LENT LUNCH: everyone is welcome to a simple bread-and-cheese lunch for Lent on Monday 1st April, 12.00 am - 1.30 pm, in the Beddoes Room. Why not come to lunch before the Bread of Life session that afternoon? Lunch is free but donations are welcomed and will go to Treetops Hospice, the charity being supported this year by the Bridge Chapel congregation. The next DIOCESAN CONFIRMATION SERVICE will be held at Derby Cathedral on Saturday 8th June. Any potential candidates should speak with a member of the clergy and look out for the Sunday afternoon Lord’s Prayer course which is taking place after Easter. THY KINGDOM COME is an opportunity for Christians across all streams, networks and denominations to come together and pray for an outpouring of God's Spirit in our land. On 6th June 9.15 pm – 9.45 pm Prayer in the Market Square, calling on God for a fresh wave of the Holy Spirit in our city. Everyone is welcome. Sunday 9th June at 6:00 pm, Evensong at Derby Cathedral will be a Beacon 'Thy Kingdom Come' Event where Christians of all denominations will gather to worship, pray and proclaim that Christ is Alive in Derby. The speaker for this evening will be the Right Revd Libby Lane, Bishop of Derby. THE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING (AGM) will be held on Sunday 14th April in the Nave at the end of the Cathedral Eucharist, as soon after 12.15pm as possible. All elected posts are confirmed at the meeting, the Dean and Chapter speak about the year, and there is opportunity for questions. The AGM Report will be available the week before the AGM. Nomination forms for a variety of roles are now available on the noticeboards in the Cathedral and at the Bridge Chapel. Make sure you have a vote at the AGM – complete your electoral roll form! CATHEDRAL ELECTORAL ROLL: this year both the Cathedral Electoral roll and the Cathedral Community Roll have to be renewed (this happens every six years). New forms have to be completed for both even if you were already on the previous rolls. The rolls will close for any new additions on 25th MARCH until after the AGM so please ensure that you complete your forms before this date.  The Community Roll lists everyone who has a connection with the Cathedral and enables the Cathedral to keep in touch with you. This is the blue form and we ask everyone to complete it  The Electoral Roll lists regular worshippers who are baptised and over 16. It enables you to vote at the Annual General Meeting. This is the white form and we ask you to complete if you are a regular worshipper, baptised and over 16. Copies of the forms are available in the Cathedral. Forms have to be handed in by 25th March. Please hand these to the Cathedral Wardens or return them to Lynda Loveday in the Cathedral Office to ensure that you are entered on the new rolls.
