BHARAT RATNA  Some important facts related to Bharat Ratna  Bharat Ratna (Jewel of )–is the highest civilian award of the country. It is conferred for exceptional Service to the nation in various fields such as Science arts, literature and in recognition of public service of the highest order.  The award was established by formal on 2nd January 1954.  The recommendations for the Bharat Ratna are made by the Prime Minister to the President with a maximum of three nominees being awarded per year.  First Bharat Ratna was awarded to Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, Sir C.V. Raman, and Chakravarti Rajagopalachari in 1954.  is the first sportsperson and the youngest Bharat Ratna Award, recipient.  BHARAT RATNA-2019  President Ramnath Kovind conferred the Bharat Ratna, on former President , along with social activist (posthumous), and Assamese musician (posthumous).  Nanaji Deshmukh: Social Activist, and he established India’s first Saraswati Sishu Mandir at Gorakhpur in 1950. He had also participated in the Bhoodan Movement launched by Acharya .  Bhupen Hazarika: Music maestro, the Bard of Brahmaputra, He popularised India’s musical traditions globally. He made compositions in multiple languages including Bengali, , Oriya besides Assamese.  Pranab Mukherjee: Former President and statesman. He was India’s youngest finance minister in 1982 at the age of 47. First occupant of the Rashtrapati Bhavan to have the distinction to have headed three crucial ministries – External Affairs, Defence and Finance.  Padma Awards: which were instituted in the year 1954, is announced every year on the occasion of except for brief interruption(s) during the years 1978 and 1979 and 1993 to 1997.  Padma Awards are given in various disciplines or fields of activities: social work, public affairs, science and engineering, trade and industry, medicine, literature and education, sports, civil service, etc. The three categories of awards:  for exceptional and distinguished service.  for distinguished service of a high order.  for distinguished service.  Padma Awards 2019: The complete list of awardees- 4 Padma Vibhushan, 14 Padma Bhushan, 94 Padma Shri.  The Padma awards 2019, announced on eve of the Republic Day, will honour 112 inspiring personalities that include 12 farmers, 14 doctors and nine sportspersons.
