Last Game: Biloxi Shuckers right-hander Zack Brown allowed one hit in six shutout innings, before the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp, wearing Words With Fans game board- themed jerseys and caps, rallied for four late runs, but Biloxi won, 6-4, in front of 3,502 on Baptist Health Sunday Family FUNday at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville. After a two-hour, 34-minute rain delay, the Shuckers (12-11 second half, 53-40 overall) took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning against Jacksonville right-hander Robert Dugger (2-3). Center fielder Corey Ray hit a leadoff single and stole second base. With one out, Dugger walked first baseman Jake Gatewood and third baseman Lucas Erceg. Tyler Heineman hit a two-run single to right field, and right fielder Trent Grisham hit an RBI single to right field. With a 3-0 lead, Brown (9-0) worked around two walks in the first inning and allowed Jacksonville (10-14, 38-54) to load the bases with two walks and a single by catcher Sharif Othman in the bottom of the second inning. Brown then struck out Dugger, left fielder Braxton Lee and center fielder Monte Harrison to escape without a run scoring. Brown retired 15 of the next 16 batters to finish six innings, allowing five walks with six strikeouts. Dugger pitched perfect second and third innings but walked Grisham with one out in the fourth inning. Grisham stole second base and scored on Brown’s single to right-center field for his first professional hit and RBI. Ray walked to lead off the fifth inning, and Erceg hit a two-run to right field to make it 6-0. Dugger lasted six innings, allowing six earned runs on five hits and four walks with six strikeouts. Right-hander Lukas Schiraldi pitched two scoreless innings, and right- hander Reilly Hovis pitched a scoreless ninth inning. The Jumbo Shrimp reached the scoreboard against Biloxi right-hander Josh Uhen in the eighth inning, as Lee walked, second baseman Isan Diaz doubled, before a wild pitch and first baseman Eric Jagielo’s RBI single scored runs. In the ninth inning, right-hander Nate Griep allowed a walk and three hits – including Diaz’s two-run single – before stranding the tying runs on base for his 25th save. Diaz hit safely in all six games he played last week, hitting .455 (10-for-22) with four home runs, 12 runs batted in, seven runs scored, two doubles, and three walks. Over the past week Diaz led the Southern League with a 1.091 slugging percentage, as well as a 1.611 on-base plus slugging percentage. His 12 RBI and four home runs were tied for the league lead as well for the last week. Diaz homered in three consecutive games from July 12-14, and three of his six games with a hit were multi-hit contests. During his hitting streak, Diaz has risen his batting average from .230 to .247. Diaz becomes the first Southern League player to win multiple Southern League Player of the Week honors in the 2018 season, as the league recognized him for his play from June 4-10 when he hit .565 and led Minor League Baseball with a .667 on-base percentage. Diaz is in his first season playing at the Double-A level, and overall is hitting .247 with 10 home runs and 42 runs batted in. He is regarded by MLB.com as the Miami Marlins No. 7 prospect, and he was acquired by the Marlins as part of January’s Christian Yelich trade with the . Diaz, 22, is a native of Bayamon, Puerto Rico, and was originally selected by the in the 2nd round of the 2014 draft out of Springfield High School in Springfield, Massachusetts.

Shrimp Homering to the Top: Jumbo Shrimp sluggers Monte Harrison and Peter O’Brien are tied for the Marlins organizational lead with 12 home runs in the 2018 season. The Jacksonville pair are even with High-A Jupiter’s John Silviano who also has 12 home runs to lead the organization. Isan Diaz is now tied for fourth in the organization with Triple-A New Orleans’ Jonathan Rodriguez, also with 10 home runs.

Shuckers are Back: This is the third of four series this season between Jacksonville and Biloxi. Earlier this season, the Jumbo Shrimp were swept by the Shuckers in early May at MGM Park in Biloxi, and then the Shuckers took three of five games against the Jumbo Shrimp in Jacksonville in mid-June The next series will be a return trip to Biloxi until August 6-12. Last season the Jumbo Shrimp and Shuckers played five series, with Jacksonville going 9-15 in those games. That included a 6-9 record in Biloxi, and the Shrimp were 3-6 against the Shuckers in Jacksonville.

Acquired by the Miami Marlins in a trade with the New York Mets with OF Ricardo Cespedes in exchange for RHP AJ Ramos n July 28, 2017. 2017 Highlights: Combined to go 13-3 with one save and a 1.66 ERA between three teams and two organizations in 2017.
