Live Theatre

Located on the shores of the St. Lawrence River is the newly renovated Thousand Islands Playhouse. Started as an amateur theater, it quickly moved into the ranks of professional for over 25 years with the Firehall Theatre or the Springer Theatre. www.1000islandsplayhouse.com

Kingston and Brockville offer live theatre through out the summer and are less than half an hour away from Gananoque. This is definitely the destination for those you enjoy live entertainment. We are happy to suggest restaurants for dinner prior to theatre in each location. Then return to Misty Isles for an evening nightcap as you watch the moon's reflection sparkle along the water and a clear view of the star lit sky. A perfect night for an open fire in front of your accommodation. Life doesn't get any better.

Fort Henry overlooks Kingston from a prominent bluff. The restored fort features military exercises recalling the fort's history as a major strategic defense point during the . Outstanding sunset evening performances are available during the summer months. It has now been designated as an UNESCO Heritage Site. www.forthenry.com

Landon Bay

Only 1 km from Misty Isles Lodge it features public gardens and 4 nature trails. My personal favorite is the Look Out. This trail takes only 20 minutes and places you on top of a granite outcrop overlooking the 1000 Islands. A picnic and swimming area is also available directly on the St. Lawrence River. This region has been designated as a UNESCO Frontenac Arch Biosphere. Additional trails in the area can be found at this site. www.frontenacarchbiosphere.ca/explore/fab-trails/hiking-trails Swimming

In Gananoque there is a deep-water swim dock and beach at Park and Rotary Beach offers swimming for smaller children located near the Municipal Marina. Two additional swimming areas, within 1 km of Misty Isles, is Gray's Beach and Landon Bay. Good swimming can also be found further east at Mallorytown Landing or Browns Bay and west on Highway 2 at Grass Creek Park. For boaters, Leek Island is the best in the Admiralty Islands.
