Pilates-based exercise and rehabilitation centre 1 Abbey Street, , Oxford, OX29 4TB [email protected] 0752 166 9845

Bamboo Pilates opened in 2006. We offer mat classes and equipment- based Pilates with instruction by highly qualified Pilates practitioners. Bamboo is not like a gym. We offer personal tuition in a caring, supportive, non-threatening environment. The studio really suits people who are uncomfortable in a gym, or people who want very concentrated instruction. We have taught many clients with a diverse range of medical conditions, as well as sports people. In the studio we set an individualised exercise programme with the goal of strengthening, stretching, improvement of posture, flexibility and ultimately mobilisation and pain management. For “I have been coming to bamboo since 2007 and can highly recommend more information call 0752 166 9845 or email [email protected]. it. In the past I have wasted money on subscriptions to gyms but quickly lacked incentive. However, under the expert guidance of Vanessa and Annie at bamboo my interest and enthusiasm for Pilates has been maintained. I am reaping the health benefits of targeted exercise in mat and studio classes I regularly attend. I can now manage a long term back problem, am stronger, far suppler and even taller.” – M. White “I joined in 2008 after a lower back problem. Bamboo’s wonderful teachers have helped me regain flexibility and confidence and I find working with them in the studio a wonderful combination of work and pleasure. I am never pushed beyond what my body will tolerate. I live in central Oxford and find it only takes me 15 minutes to get to the class.” – J. Mann

3 Operation Christmas Child

Operation Christmas Child is the world’s largest children’s Christmas project. Run by the Christian charity Samaritan’s Purse, the operation has been sending gift-filled shoeboxes around the world since 1990, bringing joy into the lives of more than 94 million underprivileged children. Last year, children and adults from across the UK helped by sending nearly 1 million shoeboxes full of gifts to disadvantaged children in Africa, Eastern Europe and Central Asia. This year Molly Yeats has once again volunteered to act as the village collecting point for the boxes. You can help by making up a shoebox and filling it with gifts for a child. Here’s what to do: 1. Find an empty shoebox A medium sized box (approximately 18cm x 13cm x 30cm) is ideal. Wrap the lid and the box separately in wrapping paper. 2. Decide if your gift is for a boy or girl and what age group it would be suitable for. The age groups are 2–4, 5–9 and 10–14. Label your box clearly – labels are available from www.operationchristmaschild.org.uk 3. Fill your box with gifts Use the suggested gifts list in the brochure (available from Molly) or see www.operationchristmaschild.org.uk/what-to-pack to help you choose what to put in your box and see what items are not suitable. 4. Make your donation The charity suggests a £3 ‘shipping’ donation per shoebox. This helps ensure your shoebox gets to where it needs to go. Please donate online if at all possible so they can tell you where your shoebox went. 5. Take your shoebox round to Molly at 3 Hollow Furlong by 1 November. Ensure your shoebox is secured with a rubber band around the outside.
