Thank you for your willingness to dive into this process and be in dialogue with me, each other, and the work. Heartfelt thanks to those who always have my back: Andrea Mason, Kennedy Sabelko, Kayla Hamilton, and Kate Speer and to dear friends, family, and loved ones near and far, here and gone, who listen, inspire, encourage, and challenge us whether we are ready or not. Special thanks to the ADF family: Jodee Nimerichter, Leah Cox, my fellow Footprints choreographers, and ADF faculty and staff for their support and comradery. And thank you to the technical theater staff for investing in our visions both on stage and off. annex 7-25-17 (World Premiere) Choreography Shay Kuebler and the dancers Dancers Calder White, Destany Rae Churchwell,Chien Ying-Hsuan (Lala), Li-An Lo, Nicolette Meunier, Kira Bartoli, Ray-Yu Lin, Emma Anne Wedemeyer, Tabitha Kelly, Rachel Miller, Hannah Marcus, Ciara Borg,Samuel Melecio-Zambrano, Lin Yiyu (Celeste), Li Yu (Mia), Chen Wei-Yi (Only), Tiffany Terry, Krystal Masteller, Chanel Howard, Mikhail Calliste Music Credit Godspeed You! Black Emperor with sound editing/mixing by Shay Kuebler Lighting Designer David Ferri Costume Designer Sarah Thea Costume Apprentices Courtney Crumpler, Isabella Yannoni This piece was an exploration into mob mentality, the pack, the power of the group over the individual, and the power of the individual over the group. While in the midst of this exploration, I also looked at how something that seeks to unify a group can also be a point to further separate it. Language, religion, and ideology are all vehicles with which we can find a greater connection with one another, yet they can also be the points to further ostracize each other as well. I send my sincerest thank you and appreciation to the dancers for their tirelessly fierce effort day-in and day-out. The work is demanding and the group constantly rose to meet it every day. To the artists: love the time you have on stage and enjoy the challenge and growth that comes with it. I hope the experiences you gain here can feed your artist and assist you on your artistic journey. Much love and appreciation to you all. To those that were not a part of the piece on stage, know that you still held a great impact on where this piece could go through your auditioning. I greatly appreciated your presence and passion in the auditions. Even if you are unsuccessful, the ability to move forward, grow, and challenge yourself is far more important then ever feeling a sense of arrival or achievement through success. Thank you to the ADF staff, faculty, interns, “footclan,” and, especially, Jodee Nimerichter for their support, assistance, and trust in me as an artist. It has been a gift to share this time with you all.
