MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN THE NATIONAL LIBRARY OF ~ AND THE RIJKSMUSEUM , THE

Considering that the National Library and the Rijksmuseum have successfully cooperated in the field of their mutual cultural and historical heritage, notably the Rach-project, which was executed between 1999 and 2002 under the MOU, signed 12 November 1999; the following is agreed by the National Library of Indonesia, represented by the Director of the National Library (at present Drso Dady P. Rachmananta MLIS) as the first party

by the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, represented by the Director of Collections (at present Prof. Dr. J.P. Sigmond) as the second party

article 1 The two parties pledge to cooperate in the res.torationof a remaining collection of 26 ';drawings... by the school of Johannes Rach (1720-1783), with the inv.nrs. BG-2, 4-28, which was rediscovered during the second stage of the previously mentioned Rach- project.

article 2 The two parties aim to make their complete mutual Rach-collections (and possibly other collections of drawings by the school of Johannes Rach) accessible for a general public in Indonesia and the Netherlands, either in the form of a publication or on CD/ROM.

article 3 The two parties will do their utmost to facilitate their cooperation with regard to human resources, funding, equipment and materials. ?

article 4 The two parties will continue in the following years their cooperation in the field of conservation, restoration, preservation, photography, publications, seminars, and exhibitions concerning the collections in the National Library formerly kept by the Bataviaasch Genootschap van Kunsten en Wetenschappen. , article 5 The first party as well as the second party will establish an executive committee for each party. .

article 6 The work will be proc~eded through 2 stagesas follows: a. First stage (2003-2004) consists of conservation, restoration, and description b. Second stage (2004-2005) consists of executing publication, seminar(s) and exhibition(s).
