Meet the Prefect Intern 2021 What advice would you give to a year seven student? Commit yourself, then be patient. Enjoy as many of the opportunities this school offers, whether it be academic, sporting, musical or other co-curriculars. Starting something new or taking on a foreign challenge is the easy part. The hard part comes later, when you start to doubt your own ability to keep on turning up in the morning or afternoon; when you start to doubt your own ability to improve and achieve. But just wait. Push through the failures and setbacks, because change and success often come when you least expect it, right when it seems like the hard work is worthless and right when you feel like giving up. SBHS Impro Group A keen group of thespians have begun meeting every Tuesday lunch time to practise their improvisation skills. Some have never taken a drama class before. Improvising is a fun way to develop skills in verbal confidence, thinking on your feet and listening to others. It also helps students to be creative and imaginative within a collaborative context. When I began this book I was looking for revelations about Trump and particularly the team that surrounded and protected him. I wondered how he coped with such a responsible job that appeared so difficult for him to comprehend and respect and how his team managed to put up with him, particularly his constant tweeting.

Cliff Sims book is very circumspect about Trump and while it admits his tweeting and his unbelievable comment about women - it does not reveal any scandals or meltdowns. In fact, Cliff Sims has trodden a careful path (for his own future) with this book and maintains that Trump tries to deliver on his election promises. He does do rants and deliberately provokes the press and exaggerates his achievements outrageously (and untruthfully) but does not generally come across as cranky with his staff. Cliff Sims does not attack Trump’s family – including Jarrod Kushner and Ivanka or Melania. He is trying to come across as objective.

Sims Trump paints the picture of a shrewd CEO who uses bombast to confound his detractors. He acknowledges Trump’s inability to follow a protracted argument. He also the Costa Award. With HIGH facing off against Shore last weekend it was an intense matchup for the opening game of the season!

The HIGH firsts put up an amazing fight but unfortunately lost 80 to 67. The firsts just couldn't find their rhythm in the first two quarters, but in the 3rd and 4th they won both quarters after they were able to pull together. Although HIGH didn’t shoot exceptionally well Andrew Kim went off scoring 21 points with 9/16 shooting! Izac Taylor was so close to a double double with 10 points and 9 rebounds. The Second’s also faced a tough challenge against Shore, unfortunately losing 64 to 24. Year 9 Quad Report After a six month lull, the winter season finally came to an end and ushered in the start of the summer season. Coming in from a short and lacklustre winter season, our spirits and anticipation for the season were high. We were prepared to approach the season with determination, consistency and passion.

From the 40-minute bus ride to Abbotsford and the familiar mayhem of the sheds, we were all glad to be back. From our first row on the water, we could tell that our technique and strength had declined since last season. Year 8 3rd Quad

Throughout the holidays we trained for many early morning sessions, at the sheds, in the erg room or at weights. As our mind and body re-adjusted to the rigour of training and adapted to the schedule - our skills eventually came back to form.

We now look ahead to the rest of the season, and competition commencing with the first GPS Regatta at SIRC on 7th November. The boys are ready to persevere in training and ultimately perform during races. We are eager for the season to come! Year 9 3rd Quad Luc Tran (8M)

HIGH SAILING Sailing Report The first Fleets races of the season commenced last Saturday, which posed northerly winds up to 21-22 knots (<40km/h).

We waited for the Optimist dinghies to sail out, then lined our Pacers up on the ramp, centerboards down and headed out. Initially the winds were light and due to the rare direction of the wind, the rough route we took to the racecourse changed, making the heading out harder than the returning phase.

For each of the races, most of us made it to the line on time, sitting and waiting for the final seconds of the three-minute start sequence.

Overall, High did well, the seniors and Year Nines stayed in the middle to the front of the competition, fighting hard to shave each second off their time. The other Year Eights and I were outmaneuvered by the seniors and ended up from the middle to a few spots from last. Even though we didn’t do amazingly well, it was a great opportunity to re-orient ourselves and our respective crews to racing. Neil Ghosh (8F)

Saturday afternoon, following fleet racing started off our first round of teams racing this season in preparation for the NSW Teams Racing Championships held at the end of term 1. Our opening first grade roster includes Nathan Cox, Liem Tran, Zhitian Mai, Brendan Alcorn and Dylan Hyunh and me as co-captains.

Consistent and diligent training with the assistance of our coaches, over the past terms and holidays has enabled us to start off the season undefeated, with wins against Scots 2 and 3, and Cranbrook 2 and 3. Adverse heavy wind conditions threatened to destabilize our ranking as this year's team is substantially lighter than previous years, putting more pressure on the boys’ physical and mental fitness.
