A welcome return from our local historian, Laton Frewen, who gave us a wonderful lecture on Edith Cavell last year. Thursday 11th February at 2.30 pm in St Mildred’s Hall Monday 29th February “The First Prize” Another brilliant mediaeval lecture on the Visit to the Royal British Legion poppy factory in Richmond. glories of Anglo Saxon from Imogen Corrigan. Thursday 10th March at 7.30 pm. 9th March-date “Northern Nigeria and Boko Haram”. John Hare worked for Visit to Chelsea Hospital and Tate Britain, Millbank BOA Service in Northern Nigeria and will talk about 50 years of independence. Thursday 14th April at 7.30 pm. Saturday 16th April “Charles Darwin and the Voyage of the Beagle”. A first visit 10 day cruise to French Rivers with Fred Olsen Lines from from James Taylor who is an author, NADFAS lecturer and . former curator of Greenwich Maritime Museum. Thursday 12th May at 7.30 pm. Wednesday 18th May “Mexico – Aztecs, Mayas and Conquistadors”. Alan Bott is a Visit to Pugins House at NADFAS and Swan Hellenic Lecturer. An Oxford scholar, he has 40 years’ service with P&O for whom he has been round the world 43 times. Thursday 9th June at 7.30 pm. Tuesday 14th June “Secret Siberia – Vladivostok – Lake Baikal”. Another Visit to Knole House, (NT property). fascinating railway experience from popular travel lecturer Paul Whittle. Thursday 14th July at 7.30 pm. Sunday 3rd July “Spirit of Invicta” – in the 20th Century. Bob Ogley is the Visit to Hatchlands, near Guildford, Surrey (NT property) former editor of the Sevenoaks Chronicle and an author of 23 books relating to Kent. August – no lecture. 17th August Visit to Maison Dieu, a medieval building in Dover, which forms part of the Old Town Hall buildings, and then to Capel- le-Ferne. Thursday 8th September at 7.30 pm. 18th-20th September “An Auctioneers Lot”. A highly recommended amusing talk on A three day (2 night) holiday based in Salisbury and including the insight of an Auctioneer’s life from Clive Emson, one of the visits to Stonehenge, the New Forest and Longleat. UK’s leading property and land auctioneers. Thursday 8th October at 7.30 pm. October or November “Lady Arabella Stuart”. Our very popular National Trust Theatre outing. Details to follow lecturer, Heather Woodward, will talk about the Lost Queen of Hardwick Hall. Thursday 10th November at 7.00 pm AGM followed by a talk on “Lewes and Bonfire Night” by Andy Thomas.
