T O U T S R N A M E N WELCOME 2016 WFTDA DIVISION 1 PLAYOFFS

On behalf of the WFTDA Board of Directors, Officers, and staff, I am excited to welcome you to the 2016 International WFTDA Division 1 Playoffs.

Nothing compares to being here. Plain and simple. The fantastic feats of athleticism on the track, the excitement and emotion in the stands, the concentration and attention to detail on the dais, and the enticing goods in the vendor village.

This is roller derby. We are roller derby.

So who will you be today? Will you be persistent and powerful, strong and swift, a leader on the track? Will you be fierce and fast and forceful, a goal setter…a record breaker? Will you be focused and creative? Will you capture that amazing shot? Will you paint your face and put on your colors? Will you chant and sing and cry and scream?

One thing is clear—whether you’re a Skater, Official, photographer, announcer, or fan (or any combination thereof), TODAY YOU WILL BE ROLLER DERBY!

This weekend wouldn’t be possible without the tremendous amount of support and time our hosts, The Terminal City Rollergirls, and all of their volunteers have put in. When you see their event staff, be sure to thank them for hosting such a fantastic tournament.

Enjoy your time in Vancouver and we’ll see you ‘round the track!

Alisha Campbell WFTDA TOURNAMENTS DIRECTOR

3 FROM YOUR HOST WELCOME FROM THE TERMINAL CITY ROLLERGIRLS Welcome to Richmond, British Columbia! We are delighted to be hosting the 2016 WFTDA D1 Playoffs on Canadian soil.

Since 2006, The Terminal City Rollergirls has grown to be one of the biggest and most successful roller derby leagues in Canada. Over the last 10 years, TCRG’s dedicated skaters, officials, and volunteers have worked hard to promote and support the continuous growth of roller derby in Vancouver and beyond.

We’re so excited to get to incorporate B.C.’s first WFTDA Playoff tournament into our league’s 10th anniversary celebrations! We’ve partnered with the City of Richmond to host at a premier sporting facility: the Richmond Olympic Oval, an Olympic legacy venue from the 2010 Winter Games.

We hope you enjoy your stay here with us in Richmond. Please take time to explore our backyard! Experience the awesome food our diverse multicultural region has to offer, go for a hike in our local mountains, swim at one of our many beaches, or take in the Vancouver nightlife. You’ll love it here!

Good luck, play hard, and have fun! End’er Wigglin TCRG PRESIDENT

ABOUT THE TERMINAL CITY ROLLERGIRLS The Terminal City Rollergirls are Vancouver’s first female roller derby league. Created in January 2006, our league has grown to over 150 local women (and men) who have discovered a new way to combine athleticism and creativity.

Terminal City is composed of four house teams—Riot Girls, Public Frenemy, Bad Reputations, Faster Pussycats; two travel teams—The All-Stars and the B-Side; a rec team—the Terminal City Mix Tapes; and an amazing group of officials—the Authority Figures.

The Terminal City Rollergirls have a dream, and it’s a big one! Their mission is threefold: to provide live, athletic entertainment that features strong, sassy and smart Vancouver women; to improve each member’s individual athletic ability, self-discipline and character; and to improve the community as a whole.
