I Promised during the last election, at the height of the global financial crisis to take a proposal to the States to introduce a new law to safeguard your money in the event a bank failed and to request that they did, so within 6 months. I brought my proposition as promised, it was approved by the States and the law was introduced on time- An important promise that I believe mattered the most to you! I Promised to bring forwards for debate the introduction of work permits, to help us finally achieve a sustainable level of population for our infrastructure and to safeguard and protect, the opportunities of employment and home ownership of locally born and educated people. I brought forwards my proposition as promised but I was not supported by many politicians who broke their election promises in regards to immigration control. I know this is a major concern shared by many local people, I believe work permits are the answer and I will continue to argue for them and bring forwards proposals for them, so in this election choose what you do with your votes wisely. You can leave them unused and everything remains un changed or you can use them wisely and help me grow enough support until they are introduced. The new laws although fairer for new comers do nothing in reality, to protect established residents and islanders from un checked population growth. Other Promises I kept I improved pedestrian safety at Havre des Pas, Colomberie, Green Street and at the Gates to the Howard Davis Park. I have an on going interest in this area. I pioneered and led the introduction of the smoking strategy which was hailed as " The greatest benefit to island health" by the Medical Officer of Health. This saved lives and is continuing to reduce the vast amounts of tax payers money required in medical interventions and treatments. Smoking in public places, like restaurants and in the workplace have also been banned. I put a stop to out of control wheel clamping I brought about the introduction of rear seat belt legislation with the help of the charity Headway and all the emergency services. I improved several areas of procedures and governance in the States I opposed G.S.T. And voted in favour of the exemptions I Promised to give my pay rise last year to Jersey Charities and I have done so again this year. Don’t forget to add some lace! Thanks to a resurgence last year, lace is no longer restricted to evening and special occasion wear. We see it popping up as trims on knitwear, blouses, and even jeans. The LBD (little black dress) in lace is fabulous and is the new way to romantically reveal and mysteriously conceal! If you want to be really up to date, wear your LBD with your LBBs (little black boots!) – this was another popular look on the A/W 2011 catwalks. fix Layering continues as the practical and fashionable answer to an inevitable dip in temperatures. Knitwear is warm but also exciting, with fur trims featuring strongly. Fine fabrics such as jersey and cashmere are used to underpin loose, comfortable silhouettes. One of the most popular brands to excel in this style of dressing is THE MASAI CLOTHING COMPANY. The company has its origins in Denmark and was founded in 1992 by brother and sister team Hans and Nina Rye. Their philosophy is to design clothing for the fashion conscious woman who favours a relaxed, individual style. They aim to use materials with a high natural fibre content to create interesting textures that are comfortable and appealing. Don’t forget, when updating your wardrobe for the new season, it’s important to give your make-up look an overhaul too! Bright make-up was in evidence on many of the A/W catwalks, and here at de Gruchy we are very pleased to have our own Lancôme Certified Make-up artist on hand to guide you on updating your look. Visit Leanne Landeres at our Lancôme Counter for advice on the latest make-up techniques and wonder products.
