The Los Angeles Unified School District seeks an outstanding Secondary Principal to lead the students, staff, and community at Panorama High School towards academic excellence.

Panorama High School is a comprehensive senior high school with a traditional 6-period, bell schedule. The school serves 1262 students, of which 91% are Latino, 4.1% Filipino, 1.9% African American, and 1.3% White. Approximately 96% of students qualify for free and reduced lunch, 28% are English learners, 13.5% are students with disabilities and 2.4% are homeless or foster youth.

LAUSD has made a strong investment to support Panorama HS and its stakeholders. Not only is the District funding a continuation of Reed support for school year 2017-2018 despite the term ending in June 2017, Panorama is now one of 50 LAUSD Investment Schools that will receive additional resources and support each of the next two years to be used to benefit the students and staff over the next 3 years. Panorama is organized in Professional Learning Communities such as SLCs, department, and grade level teams. The school is located at 8015 Blvd, Panorama City, CA 91402.

The Principal of an Investment School has the following adjunct REED Priority Duties and Responsibilities:  Strategic and deliberate attention to hiring and retention of effective certificated staff.  Planning of targeted professional development for the school’s certificated staff; and monitoring the implementation and delivery of specialized professional development strategies in all classrooms.  Overseeing summer school in partnership with the Investment Assistant Principal.  Hiring of the Investment Assistant Principal, REED funded PSA/PSW/Counselor, and the Special Education Support Provider, if eligible, and selection of Mentor Teachers.  Oversee, monitor, guide, and ensure the REED Assistant Principal effectively completes his/her duties as related to Investment School program goals.

The Ideal Candidate will have successful experience working collaboratively with all stakeholders (students, parents, faculty, staff, and labor partners); be able to supervise, support, and build capacity among certificated and classified staff; be able to manage multiple initiatives in support of high quality teaching and learning; be able to foster relationships and nurture the development of a positive school culture/climate; be able to positively influence outcomes for all learners; have a successful record in “turning around” schools; have experience in leading change to support academic improvement, and deepening implementation of the Common Core State Standards using site adopted texts SpringBoard in math and Study Sync in ELA; have knowledge of Special Education and English Learner programs; experience using MISIS to inform strategic planning at schools, building/strengthening partnerships with outside agencies, and monitoring athletic programs. SALARY: 46G - A Basis ($115,922 - $144,561) – 260 paid days  For an annualized employee who is changing basis during the year, this change may result in an annualized “settlement” (i.e., the process by which the District resolves an under or overpayment).  Selected individual may be subject to displacement due to budget limitations.  For employees who change basis during the school year, this basis change may prevent them from earning a full year of service credit.

Required Experience must be in a public school setting:  Eight years of successful full-time public school certificated service  Three years of experience as a teacher in a K-12 public school program  Two years of experience at a middle or senior high school  Two years of service in an administrative or supervisory position utilizing an administrative credential, such as assistant principal or equivalent position

For all school based administrative positions, candidates must be in the appropriate LAUSD eligible pool for the position or currently serving in the class for which they are applying. In order to be placed in the eligible pool, candidates must successfully complete the appropriate LAUSD Aspiring Administrator Program. Qualified applicants not in an eligible pool from within or outside LAUSD may be considered if fewer than five applicants from the eligible pool apply for the position.
