As a Knowsley resident and a Knowsley MBC employee I feel I have a good understanding of the vision of KMBC and the impact of living and working here. As such I support the application from KMBC and agree the proposal could generating significant financial savings for the Council; ensure that each Councillor represents approximately the same number of voters; make sure the pattern of wards reflects the interests and identities of local communities; and promote effective local government.

I agree with the revised ward boundary review - in particular to the savings created with the reduction in the number of Councillors serving the borough.

Also think Stockbridge Village should be a wholly separate ward, residents in Longview, Woolfall and Hillside historically have no connection with Stockbridge village, this would be like including elements of with Roby. Rather than having a consultation on one proposal maybe there should have been a couple of alternatives and residents could have voted on the preferred boundarys.

Fully supportive of the proposals and recommendations. They seem to make a lot of sense from an administrative perspective, for the electorate/residents and for the Council financially.

I fully agree with the proposal to reduce the number of elected members to 45 as I feel this reflects an adequate quota of Councillors, in relation to the population of Knowsley.

It does make sense to have the boundary between Prescot North and Prescot South along the railway line as it puts most of the commerce of the town into Prescot North, as well as the historic part of the town.... and thus this proposal is welcomed. The proposal to reduce the number of wards and thus councillors within the borough of Knowsley is to be welcomed too, even though it would seem hardly likely that this would produce any kind of cohesive opposition to the Labour Councilllors who from a member of the public's perspective seem on to occasions disregard any public opinion and do their own thing. Prescot has in some respects been a victim and in particular the Council seem to have been to great trouble to remove all vestiges of the history from 1544 of Prescot school..Another point which should be raised is the viability of Knowsley as a cohesive borough ...given the relatively small population there must surely be grounds for considering whether it should merge with another authority or whether various parts should be transferred to neighbouring authorities.

2: Proposed change to Whiston & Ward boundary

Contains Ordnance Survey data © Crown copyright and database rights 2013.

Annotation 2: Proposed change to Whiston & Cronton Ward boundary

Comment text:

I believe the Whiston ward should also include the village of Cronton's name as there have been several years' effort made to establish this identity. Without it the people of Cronton believe they are abandoned by the Local Authority, Knowsley. We voted in a referendum to remain within Knowsley rather than be subsumed into Halton, where green belt means nothing. We are already separated geographically by the M57 and the M62 so a further dropping of our identity reinforces the lack of significance. We are a significant community to Knowsley. I have drawn a proposed change to the physical boundary on the basis that the use of natural water courses/footpaths? as a guide to boundaries does not make sense these days. The major roads are the 'natural' boundaries. The area highlighted does not include many inhabitants so will not affect the head count very much. It is part of a former parish 'Tarbock' which has more links with Cronton than . Your proposed westernmost boundary puzzles me also as the M57 seems to me a more natural boundary but perhaps there are reasons for your decision that I don't know. I hope you will give consideration to my suggestions.

I am an experienced officer from Knowsley Council. I believe that these proposals represent a strong and more efficient way forward for the Borough. I have worked with Knowsley's communities over many years and I believe that these proposeal broadly represent natural communities which will provide for a cohesive electorate. As the Council's overall resource reduces it is also positive to see a reduction in the overall number of elected members which seems appropriate

if you place all what I say in Whiston south from the m/way down to water lane then up Prescot road and along Cronton road this would be in keeping a rural area in line with the small village of Cronton where it would be better for votes to use on polling station rather than travel to Tarbock to vote also it would keep the farming community together. As you say one should not have to leave on boundary to cross a boundary to place a vote

THIS AREA SHOULD BE IN THE WHISTON WARD AS IT MAKES SENICE TO KEEP EVERYTHINK IN ONE AREA IN THE SAME WARD ALSO THE LAND OWNERS TEND TO USE MORE OF THE FACILTIES IN WHISTON AND CRONTON THAN HALEWOOD WHICH IS A LONG DRIVE AWAY ALSO IT WOULD BE EASY TO USE THE POLLING STATION ON CRONTON OR WHISTON

I'm happy to support the proposed submissions. These proposed changes make sure that the wards reflect the interests and identities of local communities and ensure that each Councillor represents approximately the same number of voters, which is good. These proposals also generate significant financial savings and help to promote effective local government.
