A DAY SURFERS LIVE FOR

Gisborne surfer Blair Stewart comes out of the barrel of a wave at a northern Mahia break on Thursday. The stars aligned to create a day of pumping waves at the break, which surfers had not experienced there for two years. Stewart was among a group of big-wave enthusiasts from Gisborne who enjoyed an adrenalin-packed seven hours in the water, towed out to the waves by jetski. Their feats were shot by photographer Damon Meade. “This is what they live for,” he said. STORY ON PAGE 3 Picture by Damon Meade Studio
