BRIEF SUMMARY OF PROJECT

DIGSIRA SAND QUARRY over an area of 13.00 Acres or 5.261 Ha is located at Village- Digsira, under Tahasil- Kesinga in of Odisha. In accordance with the provisions of the OMMC (amendment) Rules, 2014, on behalf of the Revenue Department, Govt. of Odisha, Tahasildar, Balasore vide letter No. 2337 dated 27.03.2015 has granted the said lease in favour of SRI SIB KUMAR BANSAL of village-Kesinga, P.S. - Kesinga in the district of Kalahandi for winning of river sand as raw material for building & construction purpose for 5 (five) years i.e. 2015-16 to 2019-20. As per EIA Notification 2006 & office Memorandum No.: J-3012/12/2013-IA II (I), dated. 24.12.13 issued by Ministry of Environment & Forests, Govt. of , Environmental Clearance is required for Mining of sand from river bed & categorized as ‘B1’ category project. About 26,880 Cu.m of sand will be produced during the plan period and open cast manual mining method will be followed.

A. Location of the Project

Mining lease area, located in Tahasil- Kesinga of District-Kalahandi, Odisha. The Mine is coming within the Survey of India Toposheet No: F45E2, bounded by Latitude: 20° 20’ 35.5” N to 20° 20’ 44.33” N and Longitude 83° 22’ 51.5” E to 83° 23’ 01.3” E. The lease area can be approached from Kesinga through pucca / kachha road at a distance of 500m. Kesinga Railway station is the nearest railway station, 500 meters from lease area. Titlagarh , , Kantabanji , are the nearby Cities to Digsira.

B. Land Details

The area applied for Sand Quarry is 13.00 acres or 5.261 Ha for wining of sand is located in village- Digsira, Khata No. 240, Plot No. 189 under Kesinga Tahasil in Kalahandi district, Odisha.

C. Water Requirement & Pollution

This is a sand wining project to excavate sand as raw material for building & construction purpose. Total water requirement is approximately 1.5 KLD. The quantity is not so huge and will be sourced from nearby village. No effluent will be generated during the sand excavation as the water will be used for domestic, dust suppression and plantation purposes. Domestic waste is generated from the project which will be disposed of in septic tank followed by soak pit

D. Air Pollution

The major sources of pollution in proposed sand Excavation activity will be Particulate Matter (Fugitive emission) generated due to Excavation of sand. However, during dry season, sand mining operation will be carried out after sprinkling of water to avoid generation of fugitive dust emissions.

E. Socio Economics

The proposed project is expected to provide employment to local people in different activities such as Mining & transportation and plantation activities. The project activity will not have any major impact on the environment. With progress in sand mining/raising activities, the per capita income of local people will increase which will reduce the public expenditure of the Govt. on social consumption need. Ultimately, it will add to the Govt. exchequers in the form of various taxes & returns. On the whole, overall development of the area will be there. This mining of sand project is financial viable and can comply with the environmental norms. In view of the above mentioned benefits I request to grant us Environmental Clearance (EC) to the project.

G. Details of Court Case / Litigation;

There is no court case / litigation pending in respect of the sand mining project.

H. Cost of the Project;

The total cost of the project is Rs. 7.5 Lakhs.
