This space oozes sophistication as the premium Chairman’s Club area on racedays. The dark furniture, Champagne and gold ascents, big screen proximity and prime trackside viewing make it the perfect spot for unique meetings, conferences, cocktail events (up to 260 pax) or banquet events (up to 120 pax). The entrance to the space is also accessible via vehicles making it the ideal location for car and product launches. Guineas Room Theatre: 250 pax Cabaret: 240 pax With an open plan design, the Guineas room is a vast open area ideal for conferences, seminars, presentations and trade shows. The L-shaped space can accommodate 300 people banquet style or 500 people cocktail style. It can also be connected to the adjoining Oaks Bar to increase the size of the room. Built in 1889, The Society Rooftop , is the former racing scientific testing lab. In its contemporary form however, The Society Rooftop is a stunning function space featuring polished wooden floors, ornate lounge furnishings and a large deck with views of the racecourse. Ideal for cocktail style events (up to 150 pax), this function venue is also ideal for small sit down events (maximum of 50 pax). Legends Bar Theatre: 250 pax Cabaret: 160 pax The recently renovated Legends Bar is a diverse function space catering to a range of events including cocktail parties, vehicle / product launches, exhibitions and presentations. Directly adjacent to the Legends Bar, the Buffering Bar boasts a stunning deck in a leafy setting perfect for cocktail events or a breakout area for the Legends Bar. Moreton Dining Room Banquet Long Tables: 128 pax Encased in floor-to-ceiling glass this newly refurbished, exclusive dining room affords spectacular views of Eagle Farm Racecourse and winning post. Perched at the top of the public grandstand, the richly-styled Moreton Dining Room is the perfect place to experience a sit down luncheon or dinner whilst overlooking the largest screen in the Southern Hemisphere and the picturesque track. It and the fishery below it and towards Breakfast Creek was the towrie – the main hunting or resource area – of one of Brisbane’s largest cluster of Aboriginal camps. It was also the area that northern groups, such as the Kabi of Bribie Island and the Sunshine Coast, were permitted to use as their ‘hunting ground’ when staying in Brisbane. Consequently, many early settler interactions were with Kabi people staying in this area. Image: Ross Stevenson 2 2013–2014 ANNUAL REPORT CHAIRMAN’S REPORT On behalf of my fellow directors, it is with much pleasure that I present the seventh annual report of the Brisbane Racing Club (BRC). The 2014-15 financial year was unlike any presented to officials during the 150 years of racing in this precinct and included: • the closure of Eagle Farm on August 20, 2014 for a major track redevelopment • key steps in the development of the BRC’s $1.2 billion Master Plan • a change of administration at Racing Queensland • a new State Government The Eagle Farm closure resulted in the BRC’s loss of 40 race meetings for the 2014-15 financial year. The flagship 2015 Channel Seven Brisbane Racing Carnival was reduced from five days to four but the temporary format at Doomben was an outstanding success. But the BRC still faced a financial and logistical challenge with one racecourse closed. After the Club’s first EBIT profit in six years in 2013-14, the BRC budgeted for a loss of $390,000 amid the changed circumstances.

Bernborough Ascot Newsletter | December 2019 Edition Race Day launch party BERNBOROUGH ASCOT OFFICIALLY LAUNCHES On Wednesday 16th October, we held our Race Day Launch Party at the Doomben Racecourse to officially launch Bernborough Ascot. Almost 100 prospective residents enjoyed taking in the best views of the races while enjoying a Penfold Grange tasting in our VIP trackside marquee. A jazz trio was on hand to provide the entertainment between races. Every guest received special souvenirs of the day, including hand-drawn portraits by fashion illustrator, Erin Whitty, and personalised embossed leather purses and clutches. “With construction of the first stage well advanced, we are delighted to see this project coming to life alongside the other residential, retail, commercial and community components of this exciting region,” said Tony Randello, Managing Director of Lendlease’s Retirement Living communities. It was a great day for everyone to experience what life at Bernborough Ascot will be like.

Image: Grant Peters - Trackside Photography. Racing people are used to unexpected and sad news. That’s the nature of the industry. However, the tragic deaths of Humberto Leite and Ashley Morris during a workplace accident at Eagle Farm on October 6 were devastating and difficult to comprehend. Mr Leite and Mr Morris were working on the infield stable construction when the accident occurred. On behalf of the racing industry, the BRC expressed its condolences to the families of both men. Construction on the worksite ceased for approximately four months while full and proper investigations were conducted into the cause of the accident. This delay, while necessary, created serious operational problems for our on-course trainers of some 400 horses as they were forced to remain in stable areas that were to be vacated before construction began on the first two residential towers in the Ascot Green joint venture development between BRC and Mirvac. The BRC acknowledges the spirit of cooperation by both the Eagle Farm trainers and Mirvac during these difficult times.
