The initiative aims at fostering entrepreneurship and promoting innovation by creating an ecosystem that is conducive to growth of Startups. Since, the launch of Startup India initiative, a total of 44,534 Startups have been recognized by DPIIT as on 24th February 2021. The States/UTs wise breakup of DPIIT recognized startups is at Annexure-I. (c) & (d): As on 24th February 2021, a total of 693 Startups from Bihar and 8,327 Startups from Maharashtra have been recognized under the Startup India initiative by DPIIT. Amongst the 374 EBDs, 7 districts were identified in the State of Maharashtra viz., Buldana, Gadchiroli, Hingoli, Jalna, Raigarh, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg. Under the erstwhile scheme of setting up of one model degree college in each of the 374 EBDs, UGC had approved one MDC each in the 7 EBDs of Maharashtra. (c): Education being in the Concurrent List, creation of new institutions and enhancing the quality of education are the responsibilities of both the Central and State Governments. -
