Northwest Honkers This is the first time Wenatchee has faced the Northwest Honkers. Tonight’s visitors were founded in 2010 and are members of the Pacific International League (the AppleSox were in this league from 2000- 04). The PIL is a seven-team league with three from – the Honkers, Seattle Studs and Ev- erett Merchants, and four from – Sun Devils, Burnaby Collegiate Bulldogs, Langley Blaze and Trail Orioles. Honker fans travel a bit to view their home games as the outfit has four home fields –Shorecrest High School (Shoreline), Newport High School (Bellevue), University of Puget Sound (Tacoma) and Kent Memorial (Kent). Their record is 8-7 with three wins in their last four games. This team is not in the same summer collegiate baseball classification as theAppleSox and the rest of the . From their website, “The Honkers is a team built with a culture that allows young baseball players to thrive as well as former collegiate players to continue on their career in base- ball.” (Italics added.) Harry the Honker. According to their website “Harry The Honker is the official mascot of the Northwest Honkers. Harry is a Canadian goose that flies south to the Pacific Northwest for the summers to enjoy and support the Honkers Baseball Club!”

Nonleaguer Tonight’s game is the third of five nonleague outings this season. The home club has done well in these type games sporting a 102-38 record overall (72.9%), are 88-31 (73.9%) at home and have won the last 16 of 17 and 22 of 24.

Extra Frames Last night’s 11-inning Wenatchee triumph was Wenatchee’s 50th extra inning game. The Sox are - 28-22 overall. They’ve done OK in league outings where they are 28-16, but are winless in playoffs at 0-4 and winless in nonleague contests at 0-2. - better on the road at 14-9 than they are at home at 14-13. - currently enjoying a six-game win streak in overtime affairs. - are 5-2 in seven of these type games with Kitsap. The seven meetings are the most the AppleSox have vs. WCL opponents in extra frames.
