FR. DEL'S POINTS TO PONDER PARISH STAFF Pastor Jesus was not a control freak. Nor was He a doormat. His Father was not somebody Rev. Del Staigers 688-3144 who liked to see people suffer. [email protected] Dean, St. Francis De Sales Deanery Those are two important realities as we enter into this Holy Week. They are Parochial Vicar important because it’s easy to turn the story we hear – the Passion – into something Fr. Alex Biryomumeisho 688-3148 that it is not. [email protected] On the one hand we tend to think that Jesus should have stood up for Himself, Weekend Associate used the Godly part of His being, and stood up to His bullies. But He was bigger, Rev. Pat Crone freer than that. Deacon Deacon R. Dan Murphy On the other hand we can turn God into the “great executioner” who demanded [email protected] that Jesus died on the Cross – as though he gave Jesus no choice, dragging Him Business Manager to His death. Mary Beth Dawson 688-3142 [email protected] Neither of those portrayals is accurate. Out of love for humanity both Jesus and Pastoral Associate Abba chose complete freedom – out of love. Bill Frantz 688-3155 [email protected] It was not easy, but it was simple. Out of love Jesus had the worst experience of Principal society. Sharon Bresler 528-0442 This Holy Week will be like no other Holy Week that we have ever lived through. We [email protected] are going up to Jerusalem with Jesus in a way that we have never walked before, Director of Parish Music though our world is getting back to some routines again. Like Jesus, humanity Paul Bresciani 688-3153 lives in the presence of death, and dies in the presence of life. This pandemic has [email protected] the opportunity to teach us something very important about God. Assistant Principal Sherry Dumford Pandemics are not caused by God any more than God caused the death of Jesus. School 528-0442 And God is not dragging us to face the realities of sickness and death any more [email protected] than He mandated Jesus to die. RCIA Coordinator Emily Besl 688-3143 We, like Jesus, are facing the worst experience of society. There is always a lot of [email protected] growth after there has been a lot of pain. We do not realize that as we are going Parish Receptionist through it, but the Easters of our own life teach us how much we have died to self Mindy Dannemiller 528-1622 and grown into God’s love. [email protected] We, like Jesus, do not have to look for the cross, it finds us. Bookkeeper Judy Moeller 688-3141 Countless Christians over the centuries, in every season of grief or suffering, when [email protected] the hand of God seemed heavy or even unjust, have found comfort in remembering Database Manager that even the Son of Abba had to suffer, had to ask the one who loved Him, why Carol Glaser 528-1622, ext. 102 He had abandoned him. [email protected] R.E.P. Administrative Asst. In the rearview mirror of life we realize that God never abandons us. What kind of Barb Farwick 688-3155 a God would that be? Rather, we commend our spirit to God, turn our whole life [email protected] over to God, and find a freedom we never dreamed possible. In the end, God wins. Always. Parish Council Representatives Chairperson: Mike Moran 513-800-8915 Brian Arnold 528-5757 DEBT REDUCTION Marge Bengel 309-5809 Those who receive envelopes might have noticed an envelope for March called Laura Buehner 462-9514 Debt Reduction. The Finance Commission suggested that we add an opportunity Malia Crist 340-2184 for parishioners to contribute to a fund that is ONLY for paying down the debt. Andy and Nate Chambers 549-4299 St. Veronica parish currently owes the Archdiocese $419,228.00 for financing of Rob Cheek 576-0532 the addition to the school that was completed in 2003. Payments on the principle Kevin Link 218-9731 Nathan O’Der 444-5979 have been paused due to the financial effects the pandemic has had on church Ingrid York 708-4721 income. THE STEWARDSHIP MINUTE Today is the last Sunday in Lent. It is Palm Sunday, a day connected with great joy and terrible sorrow. The jubilance as Christ enters Jerusalem turns to sorrow by Friday and celebration again on Easter. The palms we take home remind us that we too can achieve everlasting life because of Christ’s sacrifice. How are you going to give yourself to God, really living this last week of Lent? Jesus desperately wants to be with us; how are we going to be open to Him?

SACRAMENTS OF INITIATION The Sacrament of Baptism for infants is scheduled on Sundays either at Mass or at 12:30 p.m. Expectant parents should plan on attending the Baptismal Preparation Program, held six times a year. Call the Parish Office to schedule the Baptism and preparation program. The Sacrament of Baptism for adults and school-age children is usually celebrated at the Easter Vigil, along with the Sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist. Preparation occurs in steps and stages throughout the year with weekly meetings on Sunday after 9:30 a.m. Mass. Call Emily Besl at 688-3143 or the Parish Office for more information. SACRAMENTS OF HEALING The Sacrament of Penance (Reconciliation or Confession) is celebrated each Saturday, 2:30-3:30 p.m., or by appointment with the pastor. Seasonal Penance Services are also celebrated. The Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick may be scheduled by calling the pastor before a medical procedure, or in the event of a serious illness. When hospitalized, please notify the Parish Office; this is the only way we know if a parishioner has been hospitalized. In case of medical emergency or death, call the parish office and follow prompts. SACRAMENTS OF COMMITMENT The Sacrament of Marriage is scheduled by calling the pastor or deacon to begin the process of marriage preparation, at least six months prior to the anticipated wedding date. A date for the wedding is set only after meeting with the pastor or deacon. Discernment for the Sacrament of Orders (ordination to the Priesthood and Diaconate) is facilitated by contacting the pastor or Vocation Director of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. Those interested in pursuing Religious Life may also make these contacts. RELIGIOUS EDUCATION PROGRAM The Religious Education Program (R.E.P.) for children (ages 3 years through 8th Grade) begins each year in September and ends in May. Call Barb Farwick, Administrative Assistant, at 688-3155 for more information.
