Located at the end of a rural country lane with beautiful views all around, the cottage is in a perfect position in the stunning Suffolk countryside, ‘The most amazing thing about the house is the location, it’s on a one way country lane and there’s only two neighbours nearby who are both lovely. It really is an idyllic scene, a lovely Suffolk countryside house.’ The cottage also benefits from being on the edge of Thornham Walks, a country estate with over 12 miles of footpaths through ancient woodland and beautiful parkland.

The property is thought to be around 300 years old and it is full of original features with large inglenook fireplaces and rustic beams that cross the walls and ceilings. The cottage has been owned by the same family for 50 years and was originally two small farm cottages that were then joined together to make a bigger house. The current owners added an extension at the back of the property approximately 30 years ago and then further extended 15 years ago. The cottage has been a very happy home and has been enjoyed by the whole family, ‘It has been a perfect family home and it will be again, the space is just amazing with four bedrooms and two large living rooms and dining room, it is just perfect for family life.’

‘It will be a perfect family home again, with four bedrooms, and two living rooms, the space is amazing.’

STEP OUTSIDE

Outside, the cottage is surrounded by around 1.9 acres (sts) of gardens including outbuildings and paddocks. The current owners built the outbuilding around 20 years ago and it includes a garage and three storage areas. Situated next to the paddock, it has the potential to be converted to stables and it would be an ideal for keeping horses. The garden is truly beautiful with lawned areas, fruit trees, a pond and a paved patio, perfectly placed for sitting and enjoying the views. As winter turns to spring, the garden will soon be a sea of yellow when all the daffodils will be in bloom and throughout the summer months the garden is a joy to behold. It is also a perfect garden for children to play and explore, ‘The best part of growing up in the cottage was the outside space, playing in the gardens or exploring for hours in the nearby woods. Because of the location of the house you would feel very happy to have children playing in the garden safely as it’s so secluded and private.’ The garden is also a haven for wildlife with muntjac deer wandering through and a wealth of birds and animals to watch from the comfort of the conservatory that looks out over this stunning outdoor space.

Thornham Parva, alongside , are two small Suffolk villages near the town of Eye. They are situated within the area of the Thornham Estate, one of the old great estates of Suffolk, located in the valley of the River Dove in rural north Suffolk. Thornham Magna is the larger of the two villages with a popular pub, The Four Horseshoes, and Thornham Parva has a rare thatched church. Both villages share the Parish Hall that hosts many village events such as cinema nights and the annual village barbeque and weekly Pilates and yoga classes and a baby and toddler group.

The market towns of Eye and Diss are only a short distance away for all your shopping and entertainment needs. Diss also has a mainline train station with regular trains to both Norwich and London Liverpool Street.
