The Don Monti Memorial Research Foundation Founded June 21, 1972

Dear Friends, My parents’ vision when they created the Don Monti Memorial Research Foundation in 1972, was to keep Don’s memory alive in a way that would help others who have also been forced to embark on their own journey with cancer. Our mission is to fulfill their Dlegacy while we strive to end this dreadful disease. As you know, in lieu of the ball last year, we asked for your support of our Faith, Hope & Love Giving Campaign. I am pleased to report that your tremendous loyalty has once again enabled us to fulfill all of our vital commitments to Northwell Tita and Joseph Monti Richard Monti, Chairman; Caroline Founders Monti Saladino, President; Arthur Health for patient care, Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory for Saladino, Chairman cancer research, and LIU Post for educational programs. Our financial commitments exceed $1,000,000 each year and as always, your support is the only way we can succeed. Because of you, the Don Monti Memorial Research Foundation is alive and well, and we are proud to display our gratitude on the following pages. Our 46th Anniversary Ball of the Year will be held on November the 11th, 2017. Please mark your calendars, and join us for another spectacular evening as we honor two people whose unwavering dedication has had a profound impact on our Foundation since its earliest days. We are so pleased to present Ed & Pat Travaglianti with our Lifetime Achievement Award, and hope that you will join us for a memorable evening. I thank you on behalf of the Don Monti Memorial Research Foundation family, and especially the people that we are honored to serve.  With faith, hope and love,

Caroline Monti Saladino President

Christmas, with all of its festive traditions, has always been Caroline Monti Saladino’s favorite time of year – so, when she decided earlier this year to host a Christmas Tree Lighting on behalf of the Don Monti Memorial Research Foundation, we knew this would become the beginning of Csomething magical. More than two hundred supporters, board members, and friends of the foundation came together at the Saladinos’ beautiful home on Sunday, December 4th to officially commence the Christmas season. The atmosphere was bursting with holiday cheer as the 115-foot Norwegian Spruce Tree came to life with more than 20,000 lights. Foundation supporters gather for the tree lighting. A wonderful time was had by all, and we are already looking forward to next year! 

An Evening on the Sound in Memory of Scotty Bua

October 8th, 2016, was a beautiful evening at the Shoreham Country Club, where Judi & Rich Bua gathered with their friends and family to celebrate the life of their son, Scotty. More than 100 party-goers came together at the Club for a festive evening of dancing and dining to remember a Scotty Bua Owonderful young man, taken too soon. Determined to keep Scotty’s memory alive, Judi and Rich, along with Judi’s twin sister Janice Minerley, and Judi Bua their dear friends Kathy Rayfield and Geanine Palmer, have organized a special event every year. This year’s affair was a lovely dinner-dance, with a wonderful band, delicious food donated by Ciro’s, and the ever-popular raffle baskets. It was a huge success, raising nearly $15,000 this year. We are so grateful to Judi, Rich, Janice, Kathy and Geanine for their continued support. We are honored to be able to share in the memory of your beloved Scotty. 
