State President Message

IS WEALTH! HEALTH FOR ALL !! Dear Colleagues, Greetings. Men may come and men may go but IMA goes on forever. IMA is the only organization fighting for the welfare of the members. I request each member to bring new member to our association. Dr. S. Damodaran IMA State President Central government has passed the bill in parliament to bring NEET examination for all from next year. It will definitely affect the rural students and we must oppose this. Majority of the branches celebrated Doctors Day. Free OP consultation and blood donation camps were conducted in many branches to mark the occasion. I appreciate all the branches for their involvement. Service to the sick is service to God. Treating the disease alone is not enough. One must treat the psychological and emotional part by spending a few minutes with the patient and listening to their problems as would a family doctor. Developing a rapport with the patient and his family will avoid most of the litigations. Dr.Muthurajan, Dr.T.N.Ravisankar, Dr.Balasubramanium and I met UNICEF officials regarding IMA TNSB taking over the Mother-Baby Friendly project. We met J.D in charge of chief minister comprehensive health insurance scheme regarding the increase in tariff of various packages. IMA TNSB celebrated Doctors Day award function on 22-7-16. Hon’ble Health minister was the chief guest and the Principal Health Secretary the guest of honor. The function was well arranged by Dr.Muthurajan and I congratulate him. We requested the Hon’ble Health minister to consider reduction of electricity tariff for hospitals and Doctors Benovelent Fund. New IMA branches were inaugurated at Kanyakumari Medical College and Sivakasi. I attended Doctors Day celebrations at Nagapattinam, Vellore and Sathyamangalam branches. They all organized the meeting nicely and I congratulate them. Long Live IMA! Dr.S.Damodaran TN State President

No . Only we can only pledge our eyes for donation tomorrow. Only on our demise our kith and kin should alert the eye bank and procure our eyes.

My kith and kin will be busy with arrangements of the last rites and cremation. Yes ofcourse. But within 6 hrs the corneas have to be removed from the dead body and stored in special storage medium. Or else there will be decay and decomposition of the cornea and will become unfit for transplantation.

But I have Glaucoma problem and under psoriasis treatment. Can I donate? Yes . Later the eye bank team will evaluate the cornea and use it as per the status and somebody in the long waiting list will be benefitted. Only HIV HBV Creutzfeld jacob and diseminated malignancies are contraindications.

As a IMA member what can I do? Please Spread the word by adding it as a slogan in your letterhead and visiting cards. And also every time you see a dying patient remember we can give Rebirth by motivating the relatives to go for Eye Donation … if not Multi organ donation.

When is the eye donation fortnight?
