LAWRENCE NEWCOMB Larry Newcomb has served on the Scotch Plains Council since 1972 and was elected Mayor by his col- leagues in 1980 and 1983, One of his major concerns has been the flooding of Route #22 and other township streets and he can take credit for the great strides Scotch Plains has taken in alleviating these conditions, Larry currently serves as Vice Chairman of^ Green Brook Flood Commission. A graduate of Bucknell University with a degree in Chemical Engineering, he is Safety & Environmental Engineer for Onyx Chemical Co, Governor Kean recently appointed him to the N.J. Public Employees Occupational Safety and Health Board, This year, Larry, a Scotch Plains Little League umpire for 23 years was presented with the league's Distinguished Service Award. He served in the Navy during World War II and is a member of American Legion Post 209 and VFW Post 10122, Larry and his wife, Joan, have been residents of Scotch Plains since 1956. They are the parents of Susan, a 1976 special education graduate of the Scotch Plains public school system. FRANCIS T. BOYLE Frank Boyle has been a resident of Scotch Plains for four years and lives at Lenape Way with his wife Catherine and three children Elizabeth, Kevin and Christine. Former residents of neighboring Fanwood, the Boyles came to Scotch Plains to accommodate their growing family. Frank brings a wealth of experience in government with him since he served for nearly three years as a Fanwood Councilman, While a member of the Coun- cil, he was a member of the Health and Welfare Com- mittee and served as Chairman of the Finance and Administration Committee. He has a B.A. from Manhattan College where he later was employed as Director of Admissions. While at Manhattan College, he served as Chairman of the National Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation. Formerly with Xerox Corp., he is now employed by Cogito Corp, as a District Manager. Frank has been active with the Scotch Plains- Fanwood Jaycees and is a former Director of that organization. He has also served as a coach in the Scotch Plains-Fanwood Soccer League.
