Corey’s opera credits include works by soprano Jennifer Sgroe specializes in contemporary Mozart, Bizet, Ravel, Puccini, and Knussen. Ms. Sgroe made her Jordan Symphony Orchestra, the Albany Symphony, the Bard Hall debut in concert with The Shakespeare Concerts Baroque Ensemble, and The Orchestra Now. Works performed there as soprano soloist include Mahler’s Symphony No. 2, Dona Nobis Pacem by Ralph Vaughan Williams, Three Cornered Hat by Manuel de Falla, and Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy.

Ms. Williams is an active presenter and teacher for Master Classes, Workshops, and Vocal Competitions. These include Oklahoma City University, University of Central Oklahoma, Northwestern University, Valor Conservatory in Wisconsin, Masterworks Festival in Indiana, Illinois Music Educators Association, and Classical Singer in Chicago and Boston. Ms. Williams has appeared in concert with Barbra Streisand at the United Center in Chicago, and she recently received an award for her composition of Chicago State University’s Alma Mater.

Most recently, Ms. Worthington performed the role of Rodolfo in an exciting Board of Governors Louise Cashman all-female production of Puccini’s iconic work, La Bohéme Dr. Frank Clark (MetroWest Opera). She has also appeared as Arminda in Robert N. Shapiro John Cornish Mozart’s La Finta Giardineira, the Forester’s Wife and Owl Chair David Elsbree in Janacek’s Příhody lišky Bystroušky (NEC Graduate Opera Julia Cox Philip V. Gerdine Program) and Eve in a workshop of Julian Wachner’s Vice Chair Dr. Frank G. Haluska new opera, Rev. 23. Before moving to the Boston area, Willma H. Davis James S. Congratulations to the recipients of the 2021 Handel and Haydn Society Youth The Handel and Haydn Society’s Karen S. and George D. Levy Education Program Choruses Awards! provides music education for children in communities throughout eastern Massachusetts, reaching thousands of students each year. Helen Peppler is the 2021 recipient of the Barbara E. Maze Award for Musical Excellence. Ms. Peppler is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance at Carnegie Mellon University School of Music. She is a 2020 graduate of HHYC and past recipient of the Candace Achtmeyer Award.

Sam Higgins is the 2021 recipient of the Candace Achtmeyer Award. Mr. Higgins is a graduate of Milton High School and will attend the Curtis Institute of Music in the fall to continue his vocal studies.

Somin Virmani is the 2021 recipient of the Evangelyna Etienne Scholarship Award. Mr. Virmani is a student at Phillips Academy Andover.

Alex Franklin is a recipient of a 2021 HHYC Achievement Award. Mr. Franklin is a graduate of Westford Academy and will attend Berklee College of Music in the fall to study contemporary writing and production.

KeeSeok Lee is a recipient of a 2021 HHYC Achievement Award. Mr. Lee is a graduate of The Bromfield School in Harvard, MA and will study at Stanford University beginning this fall.

Boston’s Handel and Haydn Society performs Leadership Baroque and Classical music with a freshness, a vitality, and a creativity that inspires all ages. Robert N. Shapiro H+H has been captivating audiences for 206 CHAIR consecutive seasons (the most of any performing David Snead arts organization in the United States) speaking to PRESIDENT AND CEO its success at converting new audiences to this extraordinary music, generation after generation. , CBE ARTISTIC DIRECTOR THE BICENTENNIAL CHAIR H+H performed the “Hallelujah” chorus from Handel’s Messiah in its first concert in 1815, gave Ian Watson the American premiere in 1818, and ever since has ASSOCIATE CONDUCTOR been both a musical and a civic leader in the Boston Scott Allen Jarrett community. During the Civil War, H+H gave numerous RESIDENT CONDUCTOR, CHORUS concerts in support of the Union Army (H+H member Julia Ward Howe wrote “The Battle Hymn of the Anthony Trecek-King Republic”) and on January 1, 1863, H+H performed at RESIDENT CONDUCTOR, CHORUS the Grand Jubilee Concert celebrating the enactment Reginald Mobley of the Emancipation Proclamation. Today, H+H’s Orchestra and Chorus delight more than 50,000 listeners annually with a nine-week subscription series at Symphony Hall and other leading venues. Through the Karen S. and George D. Levy Education Program, H+H supports seven youth choirs of singers in grades 2-12, and provides thousands of complimentary tickets to students and communities throughout Boston, ensuring the joy of music is accessible to all.

H+H’s numerous free community concerts include an annual commemoration of the original 1863 Emancipation Proclamation concert on December 31 of every year, in collaboration with the Museum of African American History.

The artistic director of the Handel and Haydn Society is Harry Christophers, who is also founding artistic director of in London. Under Christophers’s leadership, H+H has released 15 CDs on the Coro label and has toured nationally and internationally.

In all these ways, H+H fulfills its mission to inspire the intellect, touch the heart, elevate the soul, and connect all of us with our shared humanity through transformative experiences with Baroque and Classical music.
