Music provides options outside the teaching programmes for tuition in a range of instruments (including voice). Rock bands and small groups are provided with the opportunity to perform and hone their skills.

Visual Arts are developing experiences for students with gallery exhibitions and displays of student work.

Drama is very popular as a co-curricular option. Stage Challenge debuted successfully in 2008 and is now running bi-annually. The Secondary Schools’ Shakespeare Festival has also proven to be a successful event for Kaiapoi High School students, with students achieving best actor, staging, and overall design concepts awards, often winning the National Shakespeare Composition award.
