Spain MISSION Eurotransplant (ET) is a non-profi t international organization that facilitates allocation and cross-border exchange of deceased donor organs at the service of its member states. Eight countries cooperate within ET. Eurotransplant, with its offi ce in Leiden (the Netherlands), supports the ET community to fulfi ll its mission: offers life-saving and quality-of-life enhancing treatment options to patients with end-stage organ failure. Aiming to fulfi ll this potential, ET was established and acts as mediator between donor hospitals and transplant centers, for the benefi t of such patients.

SERVICES ACCORDING TO THE BASIC MANDATE ET distinguishes the following services to the member states:

Allocation services • 24/7 duty desk organ allocation services • 24/7 immunological support to the allocation office and transplant centers by ETRL • On-line waiting list data-entry • On-line donor data-entry services • Evaluation of post-transplant results by maintaining a follow-up registry External networking • Stimulating cooperation by organizing the annual Development of allocation process ET meeting • ET Advisory Committees (ACs): kidney, liver-intestine, • Information on recommendations and current pancreas, thoracic, organ process chain, tissue typing, developments in organ allocation to stakeholders through ethics and registry news updates • Recommendations are developed by ACs in cooperation • Cooperation with international organ exchange with the different national scientific transplant organizations organizations and national authorities  Approval by ET Board of Management  Forwarding to national Reporting and accounting transplant authorities for check and approval  • Annual Report Implementation by ET office • Close cooperation with national authorities • Participation in European projects related to organ • Standard donor-, organ-, and quality forms issued through transplantation the ET website • Participation in national and international regulatory • Lectures by ET staff members at congresses and meetings projects • Approval of the ET financial accounts by an external auditor

SUPPORT ET organizes supportive processes: • Clearing house function concerning settlement of costs between donating and receiving transplant centers • Development and maintenance of information systems

FINANCE The activities of ET are financed by the health insurance companies in the participating countries. The organization’s budget and the resulting registration fees are negotiated annually with the financers and/or the national authorities
