Eastland's Homes Wardens would like to wish you a Happy New Year.

Here is an update on what the Wardens have recently been involved in and some of our upcoming plans...Eastland's Homes Warden Service has received referrals for security equipment and advice / reassurance via the GSRA and 14 Affinity Sutton tenants have benefitted from this during the run up to the Christmas Period.

During the winter months Wardens have been carrying out foot and mobile patrols ensuring we target areas that are flagged up as a result of being targeted by Bogus Callers / Burglaries / Vehicle Crime & increased Anti-Social Behaviour. We have also ensured that we are monitoring areas and schemes where we know elderly people live who can be vulnerable at this time of year. Any residents that have been referred to us as being vulnerable have had a visit and received security equipment and advice and where possible signposted to other services.

The Wardens would like to remind residents to keep your windows and doors locked, even when you are in your home to prevent & deter opportunist thieves. Other measures you can take to make your home safe and secure are:

 Always use your house Alarm if you have one fitted  Use Light Timers when you go out and set lamps to come on so it looks like there is someone home.  Mark your property using a UV Pen - you can write your post code & house number on the back or underneath items such as TV's / Games Consoles which is invisible until a UV light is used. This will then identify who the property belongs to if it was ever stolen. You then register your items on www.immobilise.com - this site is supported by Police. You can also register serial numbers off bikes and IMEI numbers off your mobile phones.  Keep valuables out of easy view from your windows.  Don't leave your door keys in the lock or on a side board that is next to your front door. This will prevent offenders being able to reach these via your letter box.
