Holy Spirit and St. Philip Church The Sacrament of the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ is The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ the very heart of the life of the Church as well as the focal (Corpus Christi) point of this weekend’s liturgy. As Catholics, we believe June 7, 2015 that under the physical form and appearance of bread and wine, Jesus Christ is truly present, both physically and spiritually, under these Sacramental signs. When we come together to celebrate the Eucharist, we recall the death and resurrection of the Lord. The self-sacrifice of Christ on the cross becomes the model for all Christian love and morality. His Resurrection calls us to live as people of Easter faith, Saturday, June 6 confident that if we die with Christ, we shall also rise with The Vigil of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ Him. (Corpus Christi) On this feast of “Corpus Christi,” the Most Holy Body 4:00 p.m. Mass at St. Philip – Al Capoziello and Blood of Christ, a few reminders are always helpful for (Diane Perry and Family) 5:30 p.m. Mass at Holy Spirit – us, not only do they deepen our belief, but also perhaps they For the People of the Parish can make us more aware of what we do when we receive Sunday, June 7 the Body and Blood of the Lord. The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi) • The Eucharist unites us with the Lord Jesus as Readings: 168: Ex 24:3-8/Ps 116:12-13, 15-18/Heb 9:11-15/ well as with all others as members of the Body of Mk 14:12-16, 22-26 Christ. As we grow in our love of Jesus Christ, we 9:00 a.m. Mass at St. Philip – Kelly Kitsmiller become more like Him. As we grow in our love, we (Adrien Gilfus and Family) realize our need to demonstrate perfect love and 11:00 a.m. Mass at Holy Spirit – Evangelista Canini forgiveness with all who are united with us. This (Elena Canini) is truly a powerful, spiritual connection, hence the Monday, June 8 term “Communion”- union with Christ and with Readings: 359: 2 Cor 1:1-7/Ps 34:2-9/Mt 5:1-12 one another. 9:00 a.m. Mass at St. Philip – Jim Elk (Martha Wiler) • As we grow in our awareness of what we do, we Tuesday, June 9 more readily can demonstrate our reverence for Readings: 360: 2 Cor 1:18-22/Ps 119:129-133, 135/Mt 5:13-16 this Sacrament. Receiving communion worthily is 8:15 a.m. Mass at Holy Spirit – Peter Fowler important at all times, as well as proper focus and (Lori and Chris Fowler) attention to the reception of Holy Communion. Wednesday, June 10 Receiving communion is not the time “to see or be Readings: 361: 2 Cor 3:4-11/Ps 99:5-9/Mt 5:17-19 seen” by others. It is our great moment to really 8:15 a.m. Mass at Holy Spirit – Ann Weatherby focus on this great gift given by Jesus to us at the (Parish Gift Mass) Thursday, June 11 – St. Barnabas, Apostle Last Supper. Readings: 580: Acts 11:21b-26; 13:1-3/Ps 98:1-6/ • When we understand the importance of the Mt 5:20-26 Eucharist, we then understand the importance of 9:00 a.m. Mass at St. Philip – Helen Chilicki attendance at Mass. How can we grow and deepen (Eleanor Krulac) our faith, what better way is there to strengthen our Friday, June 12 – The Most Sacred Heart of Jesus commitment to living true, Christian love, than by Readings: 171: Hos 11:1, 3-4, 8c-9/ Is 12:2-6/Eph 3:8-12, coming to Mass on Sunday, hearing the Word (of 14-19/Jn 19:31-37 Scripture) and in the Sacrament of His Body and 8:15 a.m. Mass at Holy Spirit – Blood to help us face the challenges of life! • The Catholic Foundation 2018 ANNUAL REPORT the Catholic Foundation
The Catholic Foundation 2018 ANNUAL REPORT the Catholic Foundation 2018 ANNUAL REPORT THEME: Two Sides to Every Story Produced by The Catholic Foundation Published by Hopkins Printing 2018 A LETTER FROM OUR CEO Dear Friends, The theme of this year’s Annual Report is “Two Sides To Every Story”. You will read stories of the Holy Spirit at work inspiring and motivating those who give and those who receive. These stories represent the very best and sometimes the humblest of people. We share these stories so that the Holy Spirit may inspire, educate, and hopefully motivate others to realize they can also give. Many people are under the impression that only the wealthy can give in an impactful way to the causes and organizations they care about. These stories will show how someone’s desire to give, and served by The Catholic Foundation’s ability to facilitate that desire, has not only made dreams come true but has furthered the core values of our Catholic faith. Blessed Mother Teresa said, “If you can’t feed a hundred people, feed just one.” One person or one gift can affect many lives. I ask that you read each story and connect with the people who gave and the people who have received. See how you can relate to their stories, their willingness to give, and their determination to make our Catholic faith and communities stronger. At The Catholic Foundation, we are here to ensure that your intentions and aspirations are met. We can create a custom, charitable plan that is carried out in a way that fits your goals and needs.
