17th May 2019 NEWS

Dear Parents,

Congratulations to Year 6 for getting through a week of tests. I have been highly impressed with the level of calm and maturity with which they have approached them. Now that these are all over and done with, Year 6 can look forward to spending their final few weeks on a number of exciting opportunities that are planned for them. Elsewhere, in the school, pupils will be preparing for the Summer Fair by carrying out mini-enterprise projects that will involve them designing and creating their own products to sell on the day and all pupils can look forward to a day of activities linked to the festival of Eid, on Friday 7th June.

Outside of school, there are a number of opportunities available in the local area that I would encourage you to take advantage of over the course of May and June. These include:  a number of events led by the Pendle Hill Landscape Partnership:https://pendlehillproject.com/,  a Family Learning volunteer taster day on 1st June: https://www.facebook.com/events/389486871649266/,  the Science Festival family day on 29th June: www.lancashiresciencefestival.co.uk/experiments  an opportunity for children aged 5 to 8 to participate in an 8 week programme with Cricket Club: https://ecb.clubspark.uk/AllStars/At/ColneCricketClub.

There are further details of some of these activities at the end of the newsletter.

I hope that you all enjoy the forthcoming half-term break and for those who are currently fasting, I wish you Eid Mubarak in advance.
